The quickest repeatable option is the Nomadic Merchant near the Astray from Caelid Highway North Site of Grace. Gamer Guides places him east of the grace, on the western side of the Swamp of Aeonia, and reports a price of 2,500 runes with a stock of three. Gamer Guides’ Preserving Boluses entry lists the location and stock; Game8 also identifies the Caelid North Nomadic Merchant and the 2,500-rune price.
Find fixed pickups
Shack of the Rotting, Caelid

A pickup is reported in a building structure in the second section of Siofra River Well, after taking a lift. The location listing does not specify a fuller route. Gamer Guides’ item entry identifies this location.
Craft Preserving Boluses
Find Armorer’s Cookbook [6] to unlock the recipe. Eldenpedia places the cookbook on a corpse on a ledge just northwest of the Siofra River Bank Site of Grace. Eldenpedia’s Preserving Boluses reference gives the cookbook location and recipe.
Each craft makes one Preserving Bolus and requires:
- 2 Dewkissed Herba
- 1 Crystal Cave Moss
- 1 Sacramental Bud
Buying is the direct option if you have the runes; the merchant’s reported stock is limited. Crafting can supply additional boluses once you have the cookbook and ingredients, while the listed world pickups are finite.
What Preserving Boluses do
Preserving Boluses alleviate Scarlet Rot buildup and cure the rot ailment. However, if buildup comes from a ground-based source such as the Lake of Rot, it may continue briefly after use; clean off with Soap rather than assuming the bolus immediately stops environmental buildup. Eldenpedia’s item reference describes the effect and this caveat.
