Electronic Arts was acquired for approximately $55 billion—not $300 billion. The deal closed on August 4, 2026, with the buyer group paying EA stockholders $210 in cash per share. EA’s announcement described the original deal as having an approximately $55 billion enterprise value; its closing filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission reported approximately $55 billion in total consideration.
How much was EA sold for?
The best-supported figure is approximately $55 billion. In its September 29, 2025 agreement announcement, Electronic Arts described the transaction’s enterprise value as approximately $55 billion. In its August 4, 2026 closing filing, EA reported approximately $55 billion in total consideration. Those are the terms used by the respective sources; they should not be treated as interchangeable accounting labels. Neither source supports a $300 billion sale price.
The $210 figure is different: it is the cash amount per share promised to stockholders, not the aggregate value of the acquisition.
Who bought Electronic Arts?
EA was acquired by a consortium comprising Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. Under the terms EA announced in 2025, PIF would roll over its existing 9.9% stake in the company. That stake was part of the financing arrangement, not an additional sale price.

EA and the buyer group described plans to invest in innovation and grow the business. Those statements communicate intentions, not confirmed changes to game development, prices, staffing, release dates, or player experience. The closing announcement establishes the ownership change, but does not establish measurable operational effects. Andrew Wilson, EA’s chairman and CEO, called the deal a recognition of the people behind the company; that is EA’s characterization, not independent evidence of how the acquisition will affect players or employees.
