If Elementor stays on “Loading,” shows a gray editor, or leaves the widget panel spinning forever, start with Safe Mode. Safe Mode loads the editor without activated plugins or themes: if the editor works, isolate a plugin or theme conflict; if it still fails, focus on versions, PHP memory, site URLs, cache and script handling, security headers, and server errors.

Elementor’s editor is a browser application that communicates with WordPress, loads scripts, and often displays the editing canvas in an iframe. A failure at any of those layers can look identical: a gray screen after clicking “Edit with Elementor,” an empty canvas, or a widget panel that never finishes loading.
The first useful question is whether Safe Mode changes the symptom. Elementor describes Safe Mode as isolating third-party plugin and theme code to check for software conflicts. In Safe Mode, the editor loads without activated plugins or themes. That makes it a split test rather than a permanent fix.

- Safe Mode works: a plugin or the active theme is implicated. Reproduce the failure with normal loading, then isolate the offender.
- Safe Mode also fails: investigate requirements, version compatibility, URL configuration, cache or CDN script behavior, iframe security headers, and server or PHP errors.
Do not infer a cause from the spinner alone. A JavaScript exception, a blocked iframe, a 500/520 response, a timeout, or insufficient memory can all stop the same loading sequence.
1. Back up before troubleshooting
Make a complete backup of the WordPress files and database before updating components or changing server settings. Elementor advises creating a backup before contacting support. Keep the backup available so you can restore the last working state if an update or configuration change makes the site worse.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Record the current WordPress, Elementor, Elementor Pro, PHP, and theme versions.
- Note the exact symptom and the URL of an affected page.
- Write down recent updates, migrations, domain changes, cache changes, or security changes.
Use a staging copy when your host provides one. If you must work on production, make one change at a time and test the editor after each change.
2. Update Elementor, WordPress, Pro, and the theme together
Update WordPress, Elementor, Elementor Pro (if installed), and the active theme to versions that are intended to work together. Free Elementor and Pro must be compatible; pairing a newer release with an outdated companion release can produce editor conflicts.
- Open the WordPress updates screen and apply pending WordPress, plugin, and theme updates after confirming your backup.
- Check that both Elementor packages are current when Pro is installed. Do not leave one package several releases behind the other.
- Clear any site or browser cache after updating, then open the editor in a private browser window.
- If the loading problem began immediately after an update, document the versions and use your backup or staging environment to test a controlled rollback rather than repeatedly changing live files.
Keeping versions aligned removes a common compatibility variable before you spend time examining code or server logs.

3. Run Safe Mode and isolate the conflict
Enable Elementor Safe Mode from its troubleshooting control, then open the same page in the editor. Safe Mode changes the editing environment only; it is a diagnostic test, not a setting to leave enabled permanently.
If the editor works in Safe Mode
A plugin or the active theme is slowing or breaking the editor. Elementor’s recommended isolation approach is to switch temporarily to the Hello Elementor theme and reactivate plugins one at a time until the failure returns.
- Keep Safe Mode disabled for the normal reproduction, or otherwise return to the standard editor environment as instructed by Elementor.
- Temporarily switch the site to Hello Elementor.
- Deactivate all plugins other than the Elementor components required for the test.
- Open the affected page and confirm that the editor loads.
- Reactivate one plugin, reload the editor, and record the result.
- Repeat until the loading failure returns. The last plugin or combination changed is the lead to investigate.
- Test the suspected plugin with the normal theme and with other nonessential plugins disabled; some failures require a specific combination rather than one plugin alone.
Once you identify the conflict, update it, check its support notes, replace it, or leave it disabled. Restore the intended theme and re-enable known-good plugins one at a time, testing after each change.
If Safe Mode does not help
Stop spending time deactivating plugins. The next checks concern the server, configuration, browser-to-server requests, and data returned to the editor.
4. Verify the current WordPress and PHP requirements
Elementor’s current requirements page (2026) lists WordPress 6.5 or greater and PHP 7.4 or greater. It lists a 256 MB WordPress memory limit for Elementor and Pro, recommends 512 MB, and suggests 768 MB for best performance.

| Requirement | Minimum listed by Elementor | Recommended or best-performance figure |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress | 6.5 or greater | Keep WordPress current and compatible with your Elementor release |
| PHP | 7.4 or greater | Use a host-supported current PHP release compatible with your plugins |
| WordPress memory limit | 256 MB for Elementor and Pro | 512 MB recommended; 768 MB suggested for best performance |
These are application requirements, not a promise that every site with 256 MB will load smoothly. Large pages, multiple plugins, image processing, and other requests can consume memory before the editor finishes. Check the effective WordPress memory limit and the PHP version reported by the site, not only the host’s advertised plan.
If the site is below a listed minimum, raise the limit through your host or WordPress configuration where supported, then retest. If you cannot change it, ask the host to confirm the effective value and whether PHP workers are being exhausted.
5. Make the WordPress and Site URLs identical
In WordPress, go to Settings > General and compare WordPress Address (URL) with Site Address (URL). They should match exactly, including the protocol (https:// versus http://) and the www prefix.
A mismatch can make the editor request assets or an iframe from a different origin. Correct the addresses only after confirming which canonical URL your site is meant to use. Save, clear caches, and test both the front end and the editor. If the site recently moved from HTTP to HTTPS or changed between www and non-www, check redirects and mixed-content warnings as part of the same test.
6. Try Elementor’s alternate editor loader
Elementor includes a Switch Editor Loader Method option in its settings. Enable it when the standard loader remains stuck, save the setting, and reopen the editor. This changes how Elementor bootstraps the editor and can bypass a hosting or routing behavior that interferes with the default method.

Use the alternate method as a test. If it resolves the issue, keep the change only after confirming that editing, previewing, saving, and the front end all work; also record the setting for future updates and support requests.
7. Remove cache, minification, and script deferral from the test
Temporarily purge or disable page caching, JavaScript minification, concatenation, and script-defer or delay features while diagnosing the editor. These optimizations can change script order or execution timing, leaving the widget panel waiting for a file that never initializes.
- Purge the WordPress cache and any reverse-proxy or host cache.
- Disable JavaScript minification, combination, delay, and defer features in optimization tools.
- Clear the browser cache or use a private window.
- Reload the editor and note whether the symptom changes.
If the editor starts working, re-enable optimizations one feature at a time. Keep the setting that triggers the failure disabled or add the appropriate Elementor assets to that tool’s exclusion list according to its documentation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCheck Cloudflare Rocket Loader
Cloudflare Rocket Loader can break Elementor by changing scripts to load asynchronously. If Rocket Loader is enabled, disable it temporarily or exclude the editor’s scripts, purge the Cloudflare cache, and test again. A change in behavior confirms script handling as the area to fix; it does not prove that Cloudflare is the only cause.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.8. Inspect the browser console and Network panel
When Safe Mode, versions, requirements, URLs, and cache tests do not identify the cause, collect evidence in the browser instead of guessing.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
- Open the affected editor page.
- Open developer tools and select the Console tab. Record JavaScript exceptions, the file names, and line numbers.
- Select the Network tab, reload the editor, and look for failed requests, HTTP status codes, blocked iframe requests, CORS messages, and requests that remain pending.
- Save the relevant request URL, status, response message, and timestamp for your host or Elementor support contact. Do not share passwords, cookies, authorization headers, or private form data.
Different evidence points to different owners:
- A JavaScript exception or a missing minified asset points toward a plugin, theme, optimization rule, or incomplete deployment.
- A blocked cross-origin or iframe request points toward URL alignment, CORS, or security headers.
- A 500 response or PHP fatal error points toward server configuration, memory, or a crashing extension or plugin.
- A 520 response, timeout, or connection reset needs the host or proxy to inspect the origin server and upstream request.
9. Check iframe security headers
Elementor specifically identifies restrictive iframe headers as possible editor blockers. Inspect the response for X-Frame-Options and the Content-Security-Policy directive frame-ancestors. A policy such as frame-ancestors 'none' prevents the editor iframe from being displayed.
Ask the person managing the web server, security plugin, CDN, or reverse proxy to review those headers for the editor URL. Do not remove security headers blindly: adjust them narrowly so the legitimate editor origin can load while preserving clickjacking protection for the rest of the site. Retest in the Network panel after each change.
10. Collect Elementor System Info and server logs
Download the report from Elementor > Editor > System Info. It gives support a structured view of versions, limits, and configuration instead of a vague “it spins.” Also ask the host for PHP and server error logs covering the exact time of a failed load.
Look for:
- PHP fatal errors, out-of-memory messages, and exhausted worker or execution limits.
- HTTP 500 or 520 responses and the request path that generated them.
- Timeouts, upstream connection failures, and security rules that denied a request.
- Recent changes that coincide with the first failure.
Logs are more useful when paired with the browser evidence: include the timestamp, affected page, status code, and a short description of what Safe Mode did.
11. Escalate with a complete, reproducible report
If the editor still fails, contact Elementor support or your hosting provider with the context they need to reproduce it. Include:
- Confirmation that a complete backup exists.
- The exact symptom: gray screen, endless widget-panel loading, failed save, or another behavior.
- Whether Safe Mode changed the result.
- WordPress, Elementor, Elementor Pro, theme, PHP, and memory-limit values from System Info.
- The result of matching the two site URLs and trying the alternate loader method.
- Whether cache, minification, defer features, or Cloudflare Rocket Loader were disabled and what happened.
- Console and Network errors, including failed request URLs and status codes with sensitive data removed.
- Relevant PHP/server log entries and the time they occurred.
- Recent updates, migrations, domain or HTTPS changes, and security-header changes.
A remaining 500/520 or fatal error belongs first with the host or server administrator, while a reproducible editor conflict with compatible server requirements can be sent to Elementor with the same evidence.

Quick Recap
A compact decision path
- Back up. Do not begin destructive troubleshooting without a restorable copy.
- Update and align. Bring WordPress, Elementor, Pro, and the theme to compatible current versions.
- Run Safe Mode. If it works, isolate the theme and plugins; if not, continue with configuration and server checks.
- Verify limits. Confirm WordPress 6.5+, PHP 7.4+, and at least 256 MB memory; treat 512 MB as the recommendation and 768 MB as the best-performance suggestion from Elementor.
- Verify URLs and loader. Match WordPress Address and Site Address exactly, then test Switch Editor Loader Method.
- Remove script interference. Purge or disable cache, minification, defer settings, and Rocket Loader while testing.
- Read the evidence. Use Console, Network, System Info, and server logs to distinguish JavaScript, iframe, security, timeout, and fatal-error paths.
- Escalate with context. Send the backup status, exact symptom, versions, test results, and logs to the party that controls the failing layer.
