What is ENDER MAGNOLIA?
ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the Mist is a single-player, 2D side-scrolling action RPG marketed as a Metroidvania. Adglobe and Live Wire developed it, and Binary Haze Interactive published it. It takes place decades after ENDER LILIES in the Land of Fumes, where toxic underground fumes have driven artificial beings called Homunculi into madness. Protagonist Lilac searches for memories and companions while trying to save both humans and Homunculi. Nintendo’s product description and the Steam listing establish those premise and genre details.

How does its combat and progression work?
The official descriptions emphasize fighting alongside companions and acquiring 30 unique skills from them. Players can also collect and upgrade equipment, relics, and items. Those systems offer several ways to shape a character’s loadout, although the feature list alone does not establish how balanced or satisfying the combat feels in play.
The game includes difficulty settings intended either for a more challenging experience or for players who want to focus more on the story. That choice makes the premise more approachable to different play styles, but the listings do not explain the precise changes each setting makes. The publisher’s Nintendo store copy calls the battle system “revamped” and says it elevates gameplay and exploration beyond ENDER LILIES; that is promotional language, not independent proof of improvement.

What makes the Metroidvania case?
Exploration at the player’s own pace is part of the official pitch, alongside combat and progression. The combination of companion skills and collectible upgrades gives players tools to develop as they move through the world. Whether its map, backtracking, and ability-gated routes make for especially rewarding exploration is a matter of critical judgment, not something the store descriptions establish on their own.
For a broader critical signal, GamesRadar+ placed ENDER MAGNOLIA fourth in its current list of 25 best Metroidvania games. It called the game “a remarkable refinement of Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights” and “in many ways, the archetypal Metroidvania sequel,” praising its bigger world, additional RPG elements, polished play, customizable combat, and melancholy setting. How does it compare with ENDER LILIES?
The sequel retains a dark-fantasy action-RPG foundation and revisits a world decades after the events of ENDER LILIES. Its official store description specifically presents the combat system as revamped, while GamesRadar+ characterizes the game as a refinement with a bigger world and more RPG elements. Together, those sources frame the appeal as evolution rather than a complete break from the earlier game. Players who want a familiar mood and structure with expanded systems have a clear reason to look closer; the available sources do not establish that every aspect is better.
What are the release details and platforms?
The full release date listed by Steam and PlayStation is January 22, 2025. Official listings identify versions for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo’s US page says the Switch version is compatible with Switch 2 and that behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch; this is compatibility information, not a separately listed native Switch 2 version.

The Steam page lists 40 achievements and interface and subtitle support in 11 languages. It also lists a separate soundtrack DLC; a physical soundtrack release is not established by the cited listings.

That label is best treated as a verdict, not a fact. GamesRadar+’s fourth-place ranking and its praise for the sequel’s refinement make a strong case that the game deserves attention from Metroidvania fans. Steam’s review snapshot, accessed in 2026, showed 4,686 English-language reviews with 97% positive overall, alongside 163 reviews in the previous 30 days with 94% positive. Those figures are a changing platform snapshot, not a survey or a substitute for a full critical consensus.

A limitation of the evidence available here is that it establishes the game’s premise, systems, platforms, and notable praise, but not a firsthand assessment of the map, difficulty balance, story delivery, or soundtrack. So “masterpiece” is defensible as an individual enthusiast’s judgment, but the more measured conclusion is that ENDER MAGNOLIA is a highly regarded sequel with a clear Metroidvania appeal.
