- The file exists but will not load: check the file’s location, signature, application architecture, and missing dependencies.
- Several Windows programs have errors: run DISM and SFC, then check Windows Update.

- Restart Windows again and print a test page from Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > your printer > Print test page.

Fix 2: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
A damaged or quarantined driver can produce the same message as a missing installation.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Under Current threats, select Protection history.
- Look for an entry mentioning
ep0lvr17.dll, Epson, or the printer installer. - Expand the entry and review its location, detection name, and action.
- Do not restore the file merely because an application requests it.

A reported 32-bit Epson component may be called by a 32-bit printer utility even when Windows itself is 64-bit. Do not replace it with a 64-bit DLL from another package.
To check Windows architecture:
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Read System type under Device specifications.
- In Task Manager > Details, a 32-bit process on 64-bit Windows may be marked with “(32 bit).”
Install the Epson package intended for the printer and Windows edition. Do not mix files from different Epson models or driver releases.
“The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that ep0lvr17.dll itself is absent. Windows may be unable to load a dependency required by the DLL. Check the file without downloading a replacement:
- Use the error’s application path or search File Explorer for
ep0lvr17.dll. - Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Review the Digital Signatures tab if present.
- On General, check whether Windows shows an Unblock option in the security section.
- Do not unblock a file unless its location and Epson installation context are trustworthy.
- If the file is in an unexpected folder, remove the associated untrusted application and scan the computer.

Fix 4: Remove stale printer drivers
A failed reinstall can leave an old driver behind.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the Epson printer and choose Remove.
- Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers.
- Select Print server properties from the toolbar or menu.
- Open the Drivers tab.
- Select the Epson driver associated with the removed printer.
- Choose Remove, then select the option to remove the driver and driver package if Windows offers it.
- Restart the computer.
- Install the model-specific Epson package again.
If the printer is managed by an office print server, do not remove a shared driver without checking with the administrator. Reinstalling a local package will not correct a server-side driver problem.
Fix 5: Check the printer in Device Manager
Device Manager can identify a failed device installation, although it may not display every Epson utility component.
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and Universal Serial Bus controllers if the printer connects by USB.
- Look for the Epson device, a yellow warning icon, or an Unknown device.
- Right-click the affected entry and select Properties.
- Read the message under Device status.
- On the Driver tab, note the provider, date, and version.
- Use Update Driver only with a driver package supplied by Epson or your organization.
- If the device failed after a recent update, use Roll Back Driver when that button is available.
- If the installation is clearly damaged, choose Uninstall device, restart Windows, and run the Epson installer again.
Do not use a generic driver simply because it installs successfully. It may print basic documents while leaving Epson utilities and their dependencies broken.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use these commands when Windows itself appears damaged or several unrelated programs are failing. They are secondary for ep0lvr17.dll, because SFC normally repairs protected Windows files, not a missing third-party Epson DLL.
- Open Start and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows after both commands finish.
- Retry the Epson utility or print job.
DISM repairs the Windows component store, while SFC checks and repairs protected system files. If SFC reports that it repaired files but the Epson error remains, reinstall the Epson driver. If DISM or SFC reports that it could not complete, record the exact result before escalating.

Install pending updates if the failure began after a Windows change or if other hardware drivers are malfunctioning.
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart when prompted.
- Test the printer again.
Use System Restore only when a restore point clearly predates the failure and reinstalling the Epson package did not help.

- Select Finish and allow Windows to restart.
System Restore changes system files, drivers, and settings but normally does not remove personal documents. Reinstall the correct Epson package afterward if the restore removes its driver.

Do not copy the DLL or register it manually
Do not download a loose copy of ep0lvr17.dll from a random DLL site. The file may contain malware, have the wrong version or architecture, lack required dependencies, or simply fail to repair the damaged Epson installation.
Do not copy it into C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, or a random application folder. DLL search order can cause Windows to load an unsafe file from the wrong location, creating a DLL hijacking risk.
regsvr32 is also not a routine solution. It applies to DLLs that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer; registering an ordinary driver library does not recreate its installation, dependencies, services, or printer configuration.
