Start with this diagnostic checklist
Before changing files, note:
- Which program or Epson utility shows the error
- Whether it appears during startup, printing, or opening an Epson application
- Your printer model
- Whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit
- The exact message, such as “ep0lvr1k.dll was not found,” “specified module could not be found,” or “not designed to run on Windows”

What is ep0lvr1k.dll
ep0lvr1k.dll is associated with an Epson printer-driver component. Public file metadata describes it as an Epson Printer Driver and attributes it to SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION. That identifies a genuine troubleshooting topic, but it does not identify one specific Epson printer model or prove that every current Epson package still contains this filename.

Why Windows reports the file as missing
The usual causes are:
- An incomplete, damaged, or obsolete Epson driver installation
- The wrong driver model or architecture
- An Epson utility left behind after the printer was removed
- Antivirus quarantine
- A failed driver update or damaged Driver Store entry
- Corrupted Windows components
- A missing dependency of
ep0lvr1k.dll, rather than the named file itself
The message “specified module could not be found” is particularly misleading. It can mean that Windows found ep0lvr1k.dll but could not load another library it requires.
Fix 1: Reinstall the exact Epson printer driver
This is the best first repair when printing or an Epson application fails.
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Choose the affected Epson printer.
- Select Remove or Remove device.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows.
- Return to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device.
- Let Windows search for the printer, or choose the option to add it manually.
- Install the driver for the exact Epson model.
- Print a test page.
Use Epson’s official product lookup or Windows Update rather than a generic DLL repository. Microsoft also recommends obtaining printer drivers through Windows Update or the printer manufacturer.
If the Epson installer offers multiple downloads, check the printer model, Windows version, and system architecture. On Settings > System > About, check System type. A 32-bit legacy component may be used by an older Epson utility even on 64-bit Windows, so do not substitute a similarly named DLL from another package.
The repair worked if the printer installs without an error, the Epson utility opens normally, and a test page prints. If the same message returns, remove old Epson software from Settings > Apps > Installed apps, restart again, and repeat the installation using the correct model package.

Fix 2: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software may quarantine a driver file after an update or during a printer installation.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving the Epson driver or
ep0lvr1k.dll. - Record the detection name and file location.
- Do not restore the file solely because the filename looks familiar.
Restore it only when the Epson package is known, the file is digitally signed, and the security product confirms a false positive. Otherwise, reinstall the driver from Epson or Windows Update. If several unrelated DLLs have disappeared, run a full security scan before reinstalling software.
If the error started immediately after quarantine, preserve the quarantine record and any available file hash. That information can help determine whether the issue is a false positive or a compromised installation.

Fix 3: Repair the Epson software that launches the error
Sometimes the printer works, but an old Epson monitor, scanner utility, or startup program still tries to load a removed driver component.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Search for Epson software.
- Select the three-dot menu beside the affected program.
- Choose Advanced options, if available.
- Select Repair.
- If Repair does not help, select Reset or uninstall and reinstall the Epson application.
If you no longer use the utility and printing works, uninstalling the obsolete Epson program may be the correct fix. Do not replace a system-wide DLL simply to satisfy a startup item you no longer need.

Use these commands when Windows files may be damaged, several built-in features are failing, or the problem began after an interrupted update. SFC is not an Epson-driver downloader, so it may not restore this file.
- Open Start and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
DISM should be run before SFC. If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and test the Epson software. If it reports that it could not repair everything, run Windows Update and repeat the commands once. Persistent corruption may require reviewing the CBS log or repairing Windows rather than copying a DLL.
Repeating DISM and SFC without knowing which component changed can make troubleshooting difficult. It is optional, and it does not replace reinstalling the correct Epson driver.
Fix 5: Check Device Manager for the printer
Device Manager can reveal a failed or incorrectly installed printer device.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and Universal Serial Bus controllers if the printer connects by USB.
- Look for the Epson device or a device with a yellow warning icon.
- Right-click the affected device and select Properties.
- Read the status under the General tab.
- Open the Driver tab and note the provider and date.
- Select Uninstall Device only if you are ready to reinstall the correct package.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the Epson driver again.
Do not uninstall unrelated devices merely because their names are unfamiliar. If the printer driver recently updated and the error began afterward, Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver may be available. Use rollback only when the previous installation was known to work.
Fix 6: Do not use regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration functions such as DllRegisterServer, commonly ActiveX or COM components. There is no evidence that ep0lvr1k.dll is such a component.

regsvr32 ep0lvr1k.dll
It may produce an entry-point error and will not rebuild a printer-driver package. Registering a driver DLL is not the same as installing the printer, its INF file, dependencies, services, and spooler configuration.

Do not delete folders from:
%windir%System32DriverStoreFileRepository
Do not delete the entire Driver Store because one folder contains a similar filename.
To inventory installed driver packages:
- Open Command Prompt as administrator.
- Run:
pnputil /enum-drivers
- Look for an Epson provider and record the matching
oem#.infname. - Confirm that the package belongs to the affected printer before removing anything.
If the exact obsolete Epson package has been identified, Microsoft documents this removal form:
pnputil /delete-driver oem#.inf /uninstall
Replace oem#.inf with the actual published name. Do not guess the name, and do not force deletion merely because the package is old. Restart Windows and install the correct Epson driver afterward.
Do not enable Windows Features for this error
ep0lvr1k.dll is not known to be a missing Windows optional feature. Turning on .NET Framework, legacy components, DirectPlay, or other Windows Features is not a supported fix unless a separate application specifically requires that feature.

Likewise, do not copy the file into System32 or SysWOW64. A copied file can have the wrong architecture, version, signature, dependencies, or malicious contents, and it leaves the damaged printer package unresolved.
When System Restore is appropriate
System Restore may help when the error began after a known driver update and a restore point predates that change.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select a restore point from before the failure.
- Review Scan for affected programs.
- Start the restore only if you understand which applications and drivers will be changed.
System Restore is not the first choice for a simple printer reinstall. If the printer package is still damaged afterward, remove it and install the current model-specific driver.

Is ep0lvr1k.dll part of Windows?

Escalate with the printer model, Windows version, system architecture, exact error text, Epson package name, antivirus quarantine details, and any relevant Event Viewer entry. That information is more useful than the DLL filename alone.
