Some reported package records reference INF files such as prnep001.inf and prnep00l.inf. The latter has been associated with older Epson laser printers, including the EPL-N7000, EPL-N3000 and EPL-2020. This does not prove that every copy of the DLL belongs to those models.
There is no current Microsoft component named ep0lvra8.dll. It is not a Visual C++ runtime, DirectX file, or .NET component. Reinstalling those packages should not be your first step.

Windows + I. - Select Bluetooth & devices.

Install the correct package
Identify the exact printer model from its label or the printer’s control panel. Then use Epson’s official support portal, select the model, and choose the driver for your Windows version and system architecture.
Avoid mixing:
- Windows Vista and Windows 7 packages
- x86 and x64 packages
- drivers for similar Epson models
- files copied from another computer
Run Epson’s installer as an administrator if necessary. Reconnect the printer only when the installer requests it. Restart after installation, then print a Windows test page:

If the test page prints and the DLL error no longer appears, the driver package was repaired. If the same message remains, continue with the next checks rather than copying another DLL.
Fix 2: Let Windows reinstall or update the printer driver
Windows may provide a compatible class driver through Windows Update, especially when the Epson software is old.

- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, or Universal Serial Bus controllers, depending on how the printer connects.
- Right-click the Epson device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
If the problem began immediately after a driver update, open the device’s Properties, select the Driver tab, and choose Roll Back Driver if that button is available. A rollback is useful only when the previous driver is still present.

- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent entries involving the Epson driver or
ep0lvra8.dll. - Open an entry to inspect its path, publisher, and action.
- Restore it only when it belongs to a legitimate Epson or Microsoft driver package that you intentionally installed.
- Reinstall the complete driver package afterward.
Do not restore an unknown DLL merely because its filename matches the error. If restoring it causes Windows Security to detect it again, do not repeatedly override the detection. Remove the questionable package and obtain a fresh driver from Epson or Windows Update.
Fix 4: Find a stale Epson startup reference
An error appearing during login, when no Epson printer is connected, often points to an old Epson utility or failed installation rather than a file Windows itself requires.
First, identify the application that calls the DLL:
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + Esc. - Select Startup apps.
- Look for Epson entries or utilities you no longer use.
- Right-click a clearly identified Epson entry.
- Choose Disable.
- Restart Windows.
Do not delete the DLL from System32, SysWOW64, or the DriverStore. If you cannot identify the startup entry, leave it disabled and reinstall the correct Epson package. You can also inspect Settings > Apps > Installed apps and uninstall an obsolete Epson utility before restarting.
If the error disappears after disabling a startup item, the missing DLL was being requested by that leftover program. The printer may still need a separate, compatible driver.
Fix 5: Inspect installed driver packages with PnPUtil
Use this step when Windows appears to retain an old Epson package after removing the printer.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click it.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
pnputil /enum-drivers
Review the published names, provider names, classes, and versions for Epson-related packages. Do not delete a package simply because it is old. Confirm that it belongs to the removed printer and is not shared with another Epson device.
Microsoft’s PnPUtil supports commands such as /delete-driver, /add-driver, and /install, but deleting a DriverStore package should be reserved for a clearly identified stale package. If you are unsure, remove the printer through Printers & scanners and rerun the Epson installer instead of forcing DriverStore changes.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
DISM and SFC repair protected Windows components. They do not normally recreate a third-party Epson DLL, so use them when you also have Windows symptoms such as broken system tools, failed updates, or multiple missing system files.

- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the Epson driver.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test Windows and the printer again. If it reports that it could not repair everything, repeat the Epson driver installation separately rather than expecting SFC to supply ep0lvra8.dll.
Repeating DISM and SFC without knowing whether Windows or the Epson package changed can make troubleshooting slow. Do not use regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 is intended for self-registering DLL and ActiveX components that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. There is no public evidence that ep0lvra8.dll is such a component.
Running this command is therefore not a repair:
regsvr32 ep0lvra8.dll
It may produce an error stating that the entry point was not found, or that the module could not be loaded. That result does not identify the correct Epson driver and does not install missing dependencies.

Why random DLL downloads fail
Downloading a standalone copy can introduce malware, the wrong architecture, an incompatible revision, or a file that lacks the rest of the Epson package. It can also leave Windows searching the wrong folder for a dependency.

Do not copy ep0lvra8.dll into:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
Do not copy it into an arbitrary application folder either. The correct repair is to install the complete printer package through Epson’s official support process or Windows’ printer installation process.
If the message says “specified module could not be found”
That wording does not always mean the named DLL itself is absent. A dependency required by ep0lvra8.dll may be missing, damaged, or incompatible.
This is another reason to reinstall the entire Epson package. If the error persists, verify that the package matches the printer model and Windows architecture. Public records for this DLL conflict about 32-bit and 64-bit copies, so do not resolve the problem by selecting whichever standalone file has the “right” bitness.
Last resort: System Restore
If the problem began immediately after a driver installation, Windows upgrade, or printer utility change:
- Press
Windows + R. - Enter:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.

Why does the error appear when I log in?
A stale Epson utility or startup entry may still be requesting the file after the printer or driver was removed. Disable the identified startup item and reinstall or uninstall the related Epson software.
Will Windows Update fix it?
Windows Update may provide a compatible printer driver, but it is not guaranteed to restore an Epson-specific legacy component. If the error remains, use the exact Epson package for the printer.
Should I delete the DriverStore folder?
