ep0lvrad.dll is an Epson printer-driver component, not a normal Windows runtime file. If Windows says it is missing, cannot be loaded, or was not found, reinstall the complete driver package for the exact Epson printer rather than downloading the DLL by itself.
What this file actually does
Public file records identify ep0lvrad.dll as part of an Epson Printer Driver associated with SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION. It appears to belong to older Epson printer packages, including packages associated with some Epson laser and impact printers.

The filename alone does not identify one exact printer model. Several Epson packages can share driver components, and public records disagree about the file’s version, size, timestamp, and architecture. Treat those records as clues, not as a specification for the file you should download.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThis is also not an inbox Windows file such as a Visual C++ runtime, DirectX component, or .NET library. Windows normally receives it as part of an Epson driver package containing an INF file, catalog signature, dependent files, and installation information.
#1 Best Overall
- Innovative Cartridge-Free Printing ― High-capacity ink tanks mean no more tiny, expensive ink cartridges; Epson’s exclusive EcoFit ink bottles make filling easy and worry-free
- Impressive Print Quality ― Unique Micro Piezo Heat-Free Technology produces sharp text – plus impressive color photos and graphics – on virtually any paper type
- Zero Cartridge Waste – By using an EcoTank printer, you can help reduce the amount of cartridge waste ending up in landfills
- Built-in Scanner & Copier ― High-resolution flatbed scanner and a color display for easy document copying and navigation
That distinction matters. Copying a replacement into C:WindowsSystem32 may leave the printer unregistered, omit dependencies, or create an architecture mismatch. Windows Driver Store folders are managed by the operating system and should not be edited manually.
Causes by symptom
| What you see | Most likely cause | Best first action |
|---|---|---|
| Error appears when printing | Incomplete, damaged, or removed Epson driver | Reinstall the complete package for the printer |
| Error appears when opening an Epson utility | Old utility or partial driver installation | Remove the Epson package and reinstall it |
| Error appears after removing the printer | Startup utility or scheduled Epson component remains | Inspect Startup apps and reinstall or remove the old software |
| Error begins after Windows Update | Older driver compatibility problem | Install pending updates and check Epson’s latest supported package |
| Windows says “specified module could not be found” | A dependency may be missing, not necessarily the named DLL | Reinstall the complete driver package |
| File was quarantined | Antivirus action or possible file integrity problem | Check Protection history and verify the package source |
| Printer works with a generic driver but Epson software fails | Windows installed a basic printer driver | Install Epson’s full model-specific package |
| Installer refuses to continue | Old printer or driver remains registered | Remove the printer and obsolete driver package, then restart |
Fix 1: Identify the Epson printer and Windows architecture
Before changing files, establish which printer needs the component. Look at the error window, printer name, Epson utility, printed document settings, or the printer label. If several Epson printers have been used on the PC, list each model.
Then check your Windows architecture:
- Press Windows + I.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Read System type under Device specifications.
Do not choose a replacement based only on a database label saying “32-bit” or “64-bit.” A 64-bit Windows installation can contain older 32-bit user-mode components, but the complete Epson package still has to support the printer and your Windows release.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchAlso note when the problem began:
- after removing an Epson printer;
- after upgrading Windows;
- after reinstalling a printer;
- after cleaning old drivers;
- after antivirus quarantine;
- or after an Epson utility was uninstalled.
That history determines whether you should begin with a clean driver reinstall, compatibility checks, or security inspection.
Fix 2: Reinstall the complete Epson driver package
This is the most likely repair.
- Open Epson’s official Support page in your browser.
- Search for the exact printer model.
- Select your Windows edition and architecture when the site asks.
- Download the driver or software package intended for that model.
- If the package is compressed, extract it to a new folder.
- Disconnect the printer temporarily if Epson’s installation instructions request it.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Follow the setup prompts.
- Reconnect or power on the printer when the installer requests it.
- Restart Windows after installation.
Do not use a package for a similar-looking Epson model. Model families can share components, but that does not make every package interchangeable.
The repair worked if the Epson utility opens without the error and a test page prints. To test printing:
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Choose the Epson printer.
- Select Printer properties.
- Select Print Test Page.
If the installer says the printer already exists, cancel it and continue with the cleanup steps below. If Epson no longer offers a current driver, use the newest official legacy package available for that model and check whether Windows can use a compatible generic printer driver.

It is optional, and the exact Epson model package remains the preferred source for this file.
Fix 3: Remove the stale Epson printer and driver package
A failed uninstall can leave the printer registered while removing part of its driver. That often produces a missing-DLL popup at startup or when printing.
First remove the printer:
- Open Settings with Windows + I.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the affected Epson printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
Now remove the old driver where Windows exposes it:
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
control printers. - Press Enter.
- Select an empty area of the Devices and Printers window.
- Select Print server properties from the toolbar.
- Open the Drivers tab.
- Select the old Epson driver.
- Choose Remove.
- Select Remove driver and driver package if Windows offers that option.
- Restart the computer.
The exact driver-management interface varies by Windows version and installed printer software. If the Epson driver is not listed, do not delete folders from C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepository. Microsoft warns that manually removing Driver Store contents can cause unpredictable behavior.

For a legitimate Epson package whose INF file you have extracted, an elevated Command Prompt can add the driver package:

- LESS FREQUENT INK REPLACEMENT — Replacement ink bottles don't have to be changed nearly as often as ink cartridges¹; When you choose this combination printer, scanner and copier you can print up to 4,500 pages black/7,500 color³
- COLOR PRINTING — Up to 2 years of ink in the box4 (and with every replacement ink set) for fewer out-of-ink frustrations

pnputil /add-driver "C:PathTodriver.inf" /install
To use it:
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Select Run as administrator.
- Replace the path with the actual INF path.
- Run the command.
- Restart Windows and test the printer.
PnPUtil may refuse to force a lower-ranked driver onto the printer. That is normal behavior, not proof that the DLL itself is defective.
Fix 4: Check Windows Security quarantine
If antivirus software removed the file, reinstalling the Epson package is safer than restoring an isolated DLL.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an Epson-related detection or quarantine event.
- Expand the event and inspect the file path and detection details.
Only consider restoring a file when you can verify that it came from an authentic Epson package and matches the printer installation. If Windows Defender detects it again, do not keep overriding the warning. Obtain a fresh package from Epson and scan the system.
A copy found in a temporary folder or a user-writable directory deserves extra scrutiny. The presence of a file named ep0lvrad.dll does not prove that it is genuine.
Fix 5: Check for an Epson startup component
If the popup appears on every boot even though the printer was removed, an Epson utility or scheduled component may still be trying to load the driver.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for Epson entries.
- Note the name and location before disabling anything.
- Disable an obsolete Epson startup item and restart.
You can also inspect Event Viewer:
- Press Windows + X.
- Select Event Viewer.
- Expand Windows Logs.
- Check Application around the time of the popup.
- Record the calling executable and full path.
Do not delete an unknown executable simply because it mentions Epson. If the printer is still needed, install its current official package instead. If the printer has been permanently removed, uninstall the related Epson software through Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
Fix 6: Install Windows updates and check compatibility
A printer driver that worked on an older Windows release may not be compatible with a newer one. Epson may retain downloads for an end-of-support product without guaranteeing compatibility with current Windows versions.
Install pending updates:
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows.
- Return to Windows Update and check again.
Then return to Epson’s official support page and check the exact model. If there is no package for your Windows release, possible paths are:
- use the latest official legacy Epson package;
- use Windows’ compatible generic printer driver;
- operate the printer from a supported computer;
- replace the unsupported printer.
A generic driver may restore basic printing but not Epson scanning, status monitoring, maintenance, or advanced paper settings.
Fix 7: Use Device Manager to inspect the printer
Device Manager can reveal whether Windows sees a damaged or incomplete printer installation.
- Press Windows + X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and Universal Serial Bus controllers if the printer connects by USB.
- Look for the Epson device or a device with a warning icon.
- Right-click the affected entry and select Properties.
- Read the message under Device status.
- Open the Driver tab and note the provider, date, and version.
- Use Update Driver only with a package you trust, or uninstall the device if you are preparing for a clean Epson installation.
Do not assume that updating an entry in Device Manager will locate Epson’s full utility package. Device Manager may install only a basic compatible driver.

ep0lvrad.dll is identified as an Epson driver component, so System File Checker normally will not reinstall it directly. Use these commands when Windows is unstable, several system components are failing, or driver installation fails broadly.
Rank #3
- INNOVATIVE CARTRIDGE-FREE PRINTING — No more dealing with tiny, expensive ink cartridges; With this wireless printer each ink bottle set is equivalent to about 80 individual cartridges²
- LESS FREQUENT INK REPLACEMENT — Replacement ink bottles don't have to be changed nearly as often as ink cartridges¹; Color printer lets you print up to 4,500 black and white pages and 7,200 color³

- HIGH CAPACITY INK TANKS – Printer, scanner and copier utilizes Epson’s exclusive EcoFit ink bottles, making the refill process easy and worry-free
- ZERO CARTRIDGE WASTE — By using an Epson EcoTank printer you can help reduce the amount of cartridge waste ending up in landfills; Cartridge-free printer utilizes ink bottles for more convenience and less waste
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Retry the Epson driver installation.
DISM repairs the Windows image. SFC checks protected Windows system files. If both complete successfully but the Epson error remains, return to the Epson package and printer cleanup steps rather than repeating these commands indefinitely.
Outbyte PC Repair can make the manual process of checking Windows issues and repeating repair scans easier; its free scan shows detected problems, while repair is handled by the full version. It is optional, and it does not replace reinstalling the model-specific Epson driver.

Why regsvr32 usually does not help
Do not routinely run:
regsvr32 ep0lvrad.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. There is no verified indication that ep0lvrad.dll is a COM or ActiveX component requiring manual registration. It is presented as a printer-driver payload installed through an INF package.
Running the command can produce an entry-point or architecture error, and success would not recreate the Epson package registration, dependencies, catalog, or printer configuration.
Why standalone DLL downloads are unsafe
Avoid websites offering an isolated ep0lvrad.dll download. A random copy may have the wrong architecture, belong to a different Epson package, be incomplete, or contain unwanted code. It also will not repair the INF installation, catalog signature, dependencies, or printer registration.
Use the official Epson support page for the printer package. Use Microsoft documentation and Windows Update for Windows repairs. Never copy the file into System32 or modify Driver Store folders as a first response.

Frequently asked questions
Is ep0lvrad.dll a Windows system file?
No reliable evidence identifies it as an inbox Windows system DLL. It is associated with Epson printer-driver software.
Which Epson printer uses it?
Public package listings associate it with several older Epson laser and impact-printer packages, but the filename does not prove the exact model. Identify the printer installed on your computer and use that model’s package.
Can SFC restore the file?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows files, while this is an Epson driver component. Run SFC when Windows corruption is suspected, but reinstall Epson’s package for the missing file.
Should I register it with regsvr32?
Normally no. The file is treated as a driver payload, not a DLL that needs manual COM registration.
What if the file exists in DriverStore?
Leave it there. A Driver Store copy does not mean it should be copied to System32; the active printer installation may be incomplete or a dependency may be missing.
What should I include when asking for support?
Provide the Epson model, Windows edition and build, system type, exact error text, when the problem started, and the full path shown in the error. Also state whether the error appears at startup, when opening an Epson utility, or during printing.
