“ The program can’t start because ep0lvraf.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.” Other messages include “The specified module could not be found,” “The code execution cannot proceed because ep0lvraf.dll was not found,” and “ep0lvraf.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
The 60-second answer is to treat ep0lvraf.dll as an Epson-associated printer-driver component, not as a general Windows, Visual C++, DirectX, .NET, or game file. Find the Epson printer or utility that calls it, remove or repair that installation, and reinstall the driver package for the exact printer model from Epson’s official support site.

Do not download a standalone copy of the DLL and place it in System32, SysWOW64, or an application folder. A matching filename can still have the wrong architecture, version, dependencies, or malicious content.
What is ep0lvraf.dll?
Third-party file databases report ep0lvraf.dll as EPSON Printer Driver, associated with SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION. That makes it a driver-package file installed by the program that owns it, rather than a Windows component.

Public metadata is incomplete and inconsistent. Some databases report version and size information, while others disagree about whether the file is 32-bit or 64-bit. Those details are not confirmed by an Epson file manifest. No reliable public source establishes one specific Epson printer model, current Windows package, or exact Epson installer that contains this filename.
The same caution applies to its location. Some third-party observations place similar files under a Windows driver repository, but that is not a universal installation rule. The correct location depends on the Epson package and the process loading it.
ep0lvraf.dll is not verified as part of:
- Windows itself
- Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable
- DirectX
- .NET
- A particular game
- A general-purpose runtime shared by unrelated applications
A message naming this DLL may appear when an Epson setup program, printer utility, updater, or print-related component starts. If the dialog names an unrelated executable, investigate that executable before assuming the DLL is genuine.

A missing DLL error is useful only when you know which process requested the file. The dialog may name the executable in its title bar or body. Record that name and the complete error text.
Also record whether the problem began after:
- Removing an Epson printer
- Reinstalling or changing a printer
- Upgrading Windows
- Running disk cleanup
- Antivirus quarantine
- Restoring a system image
- Installing or removing Epson software
Check Printers & scanners
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Look for Epson printers, old Epson entries, or a printer marked offline.
- Select the relevant printer and note its exact model.
If the error appears when printing or opening a printer utility, this is the strongest lead. Do not remove a working printer yet unless the Epson installer or support instructions require it.
Check Installed apps
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Search for
Epson. - Expand the menu beside Epson printer software, scanners, utilities, or updaters.
- Note the package names and choose Uninstall only when you are ready to reinstall the correct package.
On Windows 10, the equivalent path is Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
Check Device Manager
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and, where present, Imaging devices or Other devices.
- Look for the Epson model or an entry with a warning icon.
- Right-click the device and select Properties.
- Use the Driver tab to record the provider, date, and version.
- Do not select Uninstall device unless you have the correct Epson package ready or are following a deliberate cleanup procedure.
Search for the file
- Open File Explorer.
- Select This PC.
- Search for
ep0lvraf.dll. - For each result, right-click the file and select Open file location.
- Right-click the file, select Properties, and record the path, size, version information, and any Digital Signatures tab.
A file inside an Epson installation or a Windows driver repository is more consistent with the reported identity than a copy in a temporary folder, Downloads, or an unrelated application directory. An unexpected copy should be scanned rather than restored or copied elsewhere.
Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFix 1: Reinstall the exact Epson driver
This is the most likely and safest repair when the error is connected to an Epson printer.
- Identify the exact printer model from Printers & scanners, the device label, or the printer’s documentation.
- Open Epson’s official support or Download Center in your browser.
- Search for that exact model.
- Select the correct Windows edition and architecture.
- Download the Printer Driver or Drivers and Utilities Combo Package Installer listed for the model.
- If Epson provides a current Epson Software Updater package for the product, use it only after the printer model has been correctly identified.
- Disconnect the printer if the Epson installer instructs you to do so.
- In Settings > Apps > Installed apps, uninstall the related Epson software if the installer does not offer repair.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the Epson installer as an administrator and follow its prompts.
- Reconnect or add the printer when instructed.
- Restart again if the installer requests it.
Epson packages can differ between printer models and between 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. A 32-bit Epson utility can still be required on 64-bit Windows, so do not substitute a 64-bit DLL or package simply because the computer runs 64-bit Windows.
Test the action that previously produced the error. Print a test page, open the Epson utility, or restart the application named in the dialog. If the error disappears and the printer works, the driver chain was repaired.
If the reinstall does not work
Remove the old Epson software using its official uninstaller, restart, and repeat the installation with the package for the exact model. Multiple printer changes can leave stale driver packages behind.

To remove a printer entry:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the old Epson printer.
- Select Remove.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current Epson package again.
For more persistent leftovers, use Epson’s own cleanup instructions or Windows printer-management tools carefully. Do not delete arbitrary files from DriverStore manually. Removing the wrong package can disable another printer.
Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the manual work of checking which device drivers are stale and finding matching packages; its free scan shows what it detects, while driver installation requires the full version. For this file, the exact Epson model package remains the definitive source.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Security software may remove or quarantine a driver file, but the filename alone does not prove that the file is safe.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review entries around the time the error began.
- Expand any entry that mentions the Epson software or
ep0lvraf.dll. - If the file came from a verified Epson installer and the detection is clearly a false positive, follow the available restore or allow options.
- If the file came from an unexpected folder, a DLL download site, or an unknown installer, leave it quarantined.
- Reinstall the Epson driver from the official source instead.
After reinstalling, run a Quick scan from Virus & threat protection. If the same file is quarantined again, do not repeatedly restore it. Keep the detection and contact Epson or Microsoft support with the detection name and file path.

Fix 3: Install pending Windows updates
Windows updates can improve printer compatibility, but Windows Update is not expected to provide a general replacement for this Epson-specific DLL.
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart the computer.
- Test the Epson software again.
If the printer is supported through Windows’ built-in driver and Epson’s package is unavailable, add the printer again through Printers & scanners after updating. For full Epson utilities and model-specific features, use Epson’s package instead.
Fix 4: Repair broader Windows component corruption
Use DISM and SFC when Windows has other symptoms, such as failed updates, damaged built-in applications, repeated system errors, or several unrelated programs failing. These commands are not guaranteed to restore ep0lvraf.dll, because the file is not verified as a protected Windows system component.
- Open Start and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows after both commands complete.
- Retry the Epson application or print operation.
DISM should be run before SFC. If SFC reports that it could not repair some files, restart and run the commands again only if Windows has broader corruption symptoms. If the only failure is this Epson DLL, return to the Epson driver reinstall instead.
When repeatedly hunting through driver versions and running repair commands without knowing what changed becomes the problem, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for detected Windows issues; its free scan identifies findings, while repair requires the full version. It is optional and does not replace the exact Epson installer.
Fix 5: Use System Restore for a recent rollback
System Restore is appropriate when the error started immediately after a known driver change and a suitable restore point exists.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Confirm the restore point and select Finish.
- Let Windows restart and complete the rollback.
System Restore can undo driver and software changes, but it is not a substitute for installing the correct Epson package. If printing still fails afterward, reinstall the model-specific driver.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why downloading the DLL or using regsvr32 is usually wrong
Random DLL download sites cannot reliably establish that their copy matches your Epson model, Windows architecture, driver version, or dependency chain. A replacement can also be infected or can cause a new error because the application needs a related file that is still missing.
“The specified module could not be found” does not always mean the named DLL is absent. Windows may have found ep0lvraf.dll but failed to load one of its dependencies. Copying another DLL into the folder does not repair that dependency relationship.

regsvr32 is also not a default fix. It registers DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. There is no public evidence that this Epson driver component is a self-registering ActiveX or COM library. Running commands such as these can produce misleading errors:
regsvr32 ep0lvraf.dll
Do not use regsvr32 unless Epson documentation specifically tells you to register that file.

If the error appears at startup after removing an Epson printer, an orphaned Epson updater or startup entry may still be calling the file. Identify the parent executable first, then remove or disable the related Epson software rather than restoring an arbitrary DLL.
FAQ
Is ep0lvraf.dll a Windows file?
It is reported as an Epson printer-driver component. It is not verified as a general Windows component or Microsoft runtime.
Which Epson printer installed it?
No reliable public source identifies one specific Epson model. Check Printers & scanners, Installed apps, Device Manager, and the exact Epson support page for your printer.
Should I install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
Not as the first step. The available identification points to an Epson driver, not those runtimes. Repair them only if the error names a separate application that demonstrably depends on them.
Recommended Free Tools
Does a 64-bit Windows installation require a 64-bit copy?
Not necessarily. A 32-bit Epson utility may require a 32-bit driver component on 64-bit Windows. Use the architecture specified by the Epson package, not by the filename alone.
Can SFC repair ep0lvraf.dll?
It may repair broader Windows corruption, but it is not expected to restore an Epson file that is absent from the Windows component store.
What if the message says the specified module could not be found?
The named DLL may be missing, or one of its dependencies may be missing. Reinstall the owning Epson package and inspect the executable and file path before attempting any manual replacement.
