1. Record the printer model

- Press Windows + I.

- Select Printers & scanners.
- Note the complete Epson model name.
If Windows still lists the printer, select it and open Printer properties. The Advanced tab may show the driver name, which can help identify the package that needs repair.
2. Check Windows architecture
- Open Settings.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Read System type under Device specifications.
The Epson download page may offer separate packages for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, or it may provide a package that supports the installed system automatically. Select the package Epson offers for the exact printer, Windows release, and architecture. Do not choose a driver solely because its name contains “Universal.”
3. Remove the broken printer entry
- Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.

4. Uninstall Epson software

- Restart Windows.
Package names vary by model and region. Some Epson installations use a printer driver, while others include a Universal Print Driver or a combined drivers-and-utilities installer.
5. Download the official package
Use Epson’s official support or Download Center, search for the exact printer model, and select the installed Windows version and architecture. Download the model-specific printer driver or the Epson package Epson offers for that product.
Avoid choosing a package for a similar model. Printer drivers can contain model-specific files, language support, utilities, and configuration data that a generic replacement will not provide.
6. Install it cleanly
- Close print-related programs.
- Open the downloaded Epson installer.
- If Windows asks for permission, select Yes.
- Follow the installer’s connection instructions.
- Connect the USB cable only when the installer requests it.
- For a network printer, select the correct network device when prompted.
- Restart Windows after setup completes.

- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
printui.exe /s /t2
- Press Enter.
- Select the Drivers tab.
- Highlight the Epson driver associated with the removed printer.
- Select Remove.
- Choose Remove driver and driver package if Windows offers that option.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the Epson package from the official Epson support page.
Do not remove a driver if another working printer depends on it. If Windows refuses because the driver is in use, return to Printers & scanners, remove every Epson queue using that driver, restart, and try again.
Check Device Manager
Device Manager is useful when the printer appears as an unknown device or Windows reports a driver problem.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Look for the Epson printer or an entry with a warning icon.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Uninstall device.
- If available, select Attempt to remove the driver for this device.
- Select Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the official Epson installer again.
Do not use Update driver → Search automatically as the only repair. Windows may install a basic print driver that allows simple printing but does not restore Epson utilities or model-specific components.
Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine safely
A security product may have quarantined a printer-driver file. Do not restore it automatically.

- Open Start.
- Search for Windows Security and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Find the detection related to
ep0lxfpa.dll. - Expand the entry and inspect its location and detection details.
Restore or allow the file only when all of the following are consistent:
- It came from the Epson installer or an Epson driver location.
- The printer model matches the installed package.
- The file is in the expected driver location.
- The security product identifies it as a false positive or the installation is otherwise verified.
Microsoft warns that restoring a detected file can expose the computer if the file is actually malicious. If antivirus repeatedly detects the DLL, do not force restoration. Remove the Epson package, scan the computer, download a fresh installer from Epson, and reinstall it.
A file copied from a random DLL site is not a safe substitute. It may contain malware, belong to the wrong Epson package, use the wrong architecture, or still fail because a dependency or driver registration is missing.
Fix 4: Confirm that the driver architecture matches

- Settings → System → About → System type.

- Whether the installer is for that model rather than a nearby model.
- Whether the error comes from a 32-bit Epson utility or another application.
If a 32-bit Epson utility is running on 64-bit Windows, that can be normal. The important match is between the Epson package and the component that uses the DLL.

SFC and DISM are not the primary repair for a third-party Epson DLL. Use them when Windows also reports damaged system files, Windows features fail, updates are broken, or several unrelated applications are failing.
Run DISM, then SFC
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the operation to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the Epson driver if the DLL error remains.
DISM repairs the Windows component store that SFC uses as a source. SFC can then replace corrupted protected Windows files. Neither command is a substitute for reinstalling the Epson package.

Repeating these commands will not restore a deleted Epson driver if the driver package itself is missing.

Fix 6: Check for an obsolete startup item
If the message appears at every login even though the Epson printer was uninstalled, an old Epson utility may still be starting.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for Epson entries.
- Right-click an entry and select Open file location if available.
- Confirm that it belongs to an old Epson installation.
- Disable the obsolete entry.
- Restart Windows.
Do not disable an entry merely because its name contains a DLL. Identify the associated Epson program first. You can also inspect Task Scheduler for clearly named Epson tasks left behind by an incomplete uninstall.

Why regsvr32 usually does not help
regsvr32 registers COM and ActiveX DLLs that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. It does not download a missing file, repair a printer package, or fix an absent dependency.
Running this command:
regsvr32 ep0lxfpa.dll
may produce an error saying that the module was loaded but DllRegisterServer was not found. That result does not prove the DLL is defective. It usually means the file is not designed for self-registration.
Use the Epson installer to place and configure the file. Do not register it from System32 or SysWOW64 unless Epson documentation for the exact product explicitly requires that action.
