Fortnite creators can make and publish Star Wars islands inside Fortnite using Epic’s official Star Wars toolkit in Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) or Fortnite Creative. Publishing requires enrollment in the Fortnite Developer Program and acceptance of additional Star Wars terms. This is a limited license for experiences inside Fortnite—not permission to use Star Wars characters or assets in games elsewhere.
What the Star Wars creator program allows
Epic says the toolkit provides approved Lucasfilm characters, environments, vehicles and other assets for creators to build Star Wars experiences in Fortnite. Star Wars islands became publishable through Creator Portal on May 1, 2026, alongside the launch of a Star Wars Game Collection in Discover. Epic’s announced toolkit included four Star Wars UEFN starter islands, two Creative flat-grid islands and more than 230 Star Wars sound effects. These are figures Epic reported in 2026, not measures of island popularity or performance.
Examples of published experiences
Epic has highlighted Escape Vader, a four-player cooperative survival game, and Droid Tycoon, where players build and customize droids. They show different ways creators can use the licensed setting; they are not a ranking or evidence that every Star Wars island has the same features.

In a separate August 2026 collaboration, Epic described Smugglers Gambit, an island connected to Disney Parks’ Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction. Eligible participants can link ride credits with Fortnite progression. That is a specific collaboration, not a feature that applies to all creator-made Star Wars islands. How to publish a Star Wars island
- Build in Fortnite. Create the island with UEFN or Fortnite Creative and use Star Wars assets made available through the official toolkit.
- Enroll in the Fortnite Developer Program. Epic requires this enrollment for Star Wars island publishing.
- Accept the additional Star Wars terms. In Creator Portal, opt into the applicable terms before submitting the island for publication.
- Check the Brand Rules and description. Confirm the island, its assets and its promotional materials comply, and include the required Disney rights disclaimer in the island description.
- Submit through Creator Portal. Follow Epic’s publishing process; satisfying the eligibility requirements does not exempt an island from review or enforcement.
Epic’s creator announcement and publishing details explain program access. The operative restrictions are in the Star Wars Brand Rules; review the current terms before publishing because program rules can change.

What creators may—and may not—use
Use only the supplied Star Wars assets
The Brand Rules permit only Star Wars assets made available through UEFN, and only as provided for the island and its promotion. They prohibit extracting, copying, selling or redistributing those assets. The toolkit is not a general Star Wars asset library for use in a separate game, website or other project.
Keep third-party IP out
The Brand Rules prohibit third-party intellectual property in a Star Wars island and its promotion, even if the third-party owner has given permission. They also limit the use of logos, film and game titles, and promotional materials. Describe the island accurately and do not imply Disney endorses it.

Respect Disney’s rights
Disney retains rights in its Star Wars intellectual property and assets. The island description must include the Disney rights disclaimer specified by the rules. The rules also state that a Disney Derivative Work is subject to assignment of rights to Disney under the specified terms. Read the Brand Rules rather than assuming that creator contributions change ownership or grant broader rights.
Can creators earn money from a Star Wars island?
Epic says Star Wars islands share 20% of engagement payout with The Walt Disney Company. Epic’s announcement also says these islands do not support in-island transactions. The Brand Rules separately describe a 30% share for in-island transaction payout under the agreement; that provision should not be mistaken for the current practical payout treatment Epic announced for Star Wars islands. Epic’s creator announcement and the Brand Rules provide the respective terms.

The 20% figure is Epic’s stated share arrangement, not a promise of earnings. The official materials cited here do not establish independent audience or performance statistics for these islands.

Epic and Disney enforce the Brand Rules. Epic may remove a violating island; the rules also say violations can make an island ineligible for engagement payouts and lead to further restrictions. Review the live rules before making changes or promoting an island, especially where assets, branding or outside intellectual property are involved.
