What was Epic’s Christmas free game?
Epic Games Store gave away Control on December 25, 2024. Notebookcheck reported it as the eighth free game in Epic’s Holiday Sale giveaway and said the 24-hour offer ended December 26 at 5 p.m. Central European Time. Notebookcheck’s report was published on December 25, 2024; its page now displays a February 18, 2026 update marker, which is distinct from the date of the giveaway.

Can you still claim Control for free?
No. The Christmas 2024 claim period has ended. Epic says free promotions run for a limited time and a game must be claimed within the period shown for it to be added to an account’s library. If you missed an offer, Epic recommends watching for future free promotions and special offers. Epic’s support article explains the claim policy.
Where to find Epic’s current free game
Use Epic’s official Free Games page and check the listed offer dates and platform or regional terms. Epic describes its program as giving away a free game every week, with a new free game arriving each Thursday on PC and mobile. Mobile availability depends on supported regions for iPhone and iPad; Epic says its Android app is available globally. The specific games and claim windows change, so the page is the place to verify what is live.

What is Control?
Developed by Remedy Entertainment, Control is an action-adventure game about Jesse Faden, the newly appointed director of the Federal Bureau of Control, a secretive government agency investigating paranormal events. Jesse confronts the Hiss, a force threatening the Bureau. Combat combines firearms with telekinetic abilities and a shape-shifting weapon.
