The final Epic Games Store free-game offer to begin in January 2026 was Definitely Not Fried Chicken, available to claim from January 29 through February 5. The promotion has ended; it was the last January-starting offer, not one that finished in January.
What was the last Epic Games Store free game in January 2026?
It was Definitely Not Fried Chicken. Two retrospective giveaway listings place the offer in Epic’s schedule from January 29 to February 5, 2026: PC Gamer’s 2026 free-games list and a second historical archive. These are retrospective records rather than an archived Epic promotion page.
The surrounding January rotation was:
| Claim window | Free game or games |
|---|---|
| January 1–8, 2026 | Total War: Three Kingdoms and Wildgate |
| January 8–15, 2026 | Bloons TD 6 |
| January 15–22, 2026 | Styx: Master of Shadows and Styx: Shards of Darkness |
| January 22–29, 2026 | Rustler |
| January 29–February 5, 2026 | Definitely Not Fried Chicken |
What kind of game is Definitely Not Fried Chicken?
Epic’s store listing describes it as a single-player business-management simulation for Windows. You build legitimate businesses—including fried-chicken shops, laundromats and nightclubs—while managing an illicit empire.
Can you still claim the January 2026 Epic free game?
No. The offer expired on February 5, 2026. Epic says its standard weekly free game is available for seven days, beginning Thursday at 8 a.m. PT. If you claimed a game during its offer window, Epic says it remains in your library permanently, even if you did not download it at the time. Claiming requires an Epic Games account with two-factor authentication enabled. See Epic Games Player Support’s free-game information for the policy.
