For a reliable first attempt at J-Lab, look for a Level 1 J-Lab pass around the Hidden Mine and Mine Manager area in Farm Town, including the fenced metal tower and nearby gas-station store. Those are reported search spots, not guaranteed spawns. After you have the pass, the Duplicate Pass quest is the reported route to replenishing Level 1 passes; check Xiao Ming’s current shop inventory after completing it.
Colored access cards are different items for restricted rooms, and their reported locations are variable. Use the leads below as places to check—not as a fixed spawn route.

Which J-Lab card do you need?
“J-Lab card” can mean an entry certificate or a colored access card. The item catalog lists separate Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 J-Lab certificates, plus six colored access cards and O/X mysterious keys. Where to look for a Level 1 pass
Make the Hidden Mine and its surrounding Farm Town area your first search zone. A Steam player discussion names the metal tower inside a fenced area and the gas-station store as possible pickup spots. The discussion also reflects disagreement among players about whether the pass appears reliably, so do not build a run around one point being certain.

A secondary guide mentions a Level 1 pass refresh interval of roughly four to five game cycles, but that timing is not independently confirmed. It is safer to treat each trip as a new search than to rely on a precise timer.
How to replenish Level 1 passes
The Duplicate Pass quest is tied to J-Lab Level 1 passes. The quest listing places it with Xiao Ming in Farmstead and describes submitting three Level 1 passes. A separate guide reports that completing the quest enables pass purchases, making this a more repeatable path than relying solely on random pickups. Room leads have an access cost: the O or X room requires its matching key, so check whether you have the correct key before making that room the center of a run. A card reported inside a locked room does not make the room accessible by itself.
Use the interactive map to refine a search
The unofficial J-Lab map provides orientation for extracts, locked doors, points of interest, a teleport beacon, loot markers, and bosses. It can help plan a route, but its markers should not be mistaken for a guarantee that an item will be present on a particular run.

The interactive map documentation explains that Find mode can locate item candidates and their associated spawn points. It also distinguishes spawn-rule groups from individual points: an item may have multiple groups with different probabilities, expected counts, or conditions. Inspect all listed groups and points for the item you want. The map’s default probability filter is 10%, so lower-probability points may be hidden until you adjust the filter.

A secondary acquisition guide reports possible Level 2 pass drops from Wanderers on J-Lab B1 and possible office-area spawns. Those claims are not corroborated by the item catalog or the Steam location discussion. No reliable drop rate, fixed spawn, or refresh schedule is established, so treat those locations as exploratory leads rather than a farming guarantee. The Level 2 certificate is described as granting core-area access; do not confuse it with a colored restricted-room card.

- For first entry: prioritize the Hidden Mine and nearby Farm Town pickup leads for the Level 1 pass.
- For repeat access: pursue Duplicate Pass, then check Xiao Ming’s shop in-game after quest completion.
- For a colored card: use its reported locations as a checklist, and include the matching O/X key if the lead is behind a locked door.
- For uncertain spawns: use map Find mode to inspect every candidate point and spawn-rule group, including low-probability results hidden by the default filter.
Specific card locations come largely from player anecdotes, while the catalog and quest listing are stronger evidence for item names, stated functions, and quest association.
