Error 103003 with “Status code: GatewayTimeout” means the Escape from Tarkov launcher’s request for game-update information did not receive a timely response. The message identifies the failed request, but it does not tell you whether the cause is a temporary Battlestate Games service problem or something affecting your connection. Check official announcements first, then retry; avoid disruptive fixes unless support recommends them.
What Error 103003 and GatewayTimeout mean
The reported error names a GET request to Battlestate Games’ launcher endpoint for EFT updates, with the branch set to live and launcher version 14.0.1.2312. “GatewayTimeout” indicates that the request did not receive a timely response. It is a description of the failed request, not a full diagnosis of its cause.
A service-side problem is possible, but this message alone does not confirm an outage. Related launcher errors have appeared in player reports, and Battlestate Games has acknowledged access problems in the past. Those historical reports do not establish the current service status or explain this particular failure. The launcher version in the error is part of the reported request; by itself, it does not show whether your installation is current.
What to do, in order
- Save the full error. Copy or photograph the complete message, including the endpoint, branch, launcher version, and status code. Note when it happened.
- Check Battlestate Games’ official announcements. Look for a current notice about EFT, the launcher, or service access. BSG has posted about and later resolved access incidents before, but an old notice is not evidence of an outage now: Battlestate Games’ official channel.
- If an incident is reported, wait and retry after recovery. Close the launcher, give the service time to recover, then reopen it and try again. Waiting and reopening were also suggested during a historical, similar access incident; they are sensible low-risk steps, not a guaranteed fix: Game Watch’s report on that incident.
- If there is no reported incident, or the error continues, restart the launcher once and contact BSG support. Send the complete error, its time, and whether other online services are reachable. Steam lists Battlestate Games’ customer support website and support email, [email protected].
What not to change yet
The available reports do not establish reinstalling the game, changing DNS, disabling security software, or buying networking or PC hardware as reliable fixes for this specific update-endpoint timeout. Avoid destructive reinstall steps and broad security changes unless official support recommends them for your situation. If support asks you to test a local setting, follow its instructions and report whether the exact same error returns.

When to escalate
Contact Battlestate Games if the timeout persists after a delay and launcher restart, especially when official announcements do not identify a service incident. The error is useful evidence for support, but it cannot by itself identify the root cause. Provide the unedited message and occurrence time so support can assess the particular request.
