Together, they added a persistent-progression PvE co-op offering, adjusted combat systems, connected parts of EFT and Arena progression, and introduced a time-limited map-transit rule.
What changed in Tarkov in 2024?
The year’s main confirmed touchpoints were update 0.14.6 on April 25, the June 6 EFT 0.14.9.0 and Arena 0.1.8.0 updates, and the August 0.15.0.0 EFT and 0.2.0.0 Arena updates. The changes differed in scope: some affected access and progression, some tuned combat, and Marathon applied a special rule to an event.
| Milestone | What it changed | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| April 25: 0.14.6 and The Unheard Edition | The dated update summary centered the edition on access to PvE co-op with persistent progression and listed additional edition benefits; it also described combat-system adjustments. | Edition features and game mechanics |
| June 6: EFT 0.14.9.0 and Arena 0.1.8.0 | Developer announcements described synchronized EFT/Arena profiles, Ref reputation, and revised ruble-transfer terms. | Shared progression and transfers between games |
| August: EFT 0.15.0.0 and Arena 0.2.0.0 | Battlestate Games announced a wipe. Its Marathon event used a PvP-only transit rule during the event. | Wipe and time-limited event rules |

What did update 0.14.6 and The Unheard Edition add?
PvE co-op with persistent progression
A dated 2024 update summary presented access to PvE co-op as The Unheard Edition’s primary focus. It described progression in that mode as persistent and not resetting with wipes. That makes the feature distinct from the usual wipe cycle, but it should not be read as a claim that every Tarkov mode or progression track became wipe-proof.

Other listed edition benefits
The same summary listed an expanded stash, higher starting skill levels, expanded PMC pockets, additional starting gear, an in-game ID, exclusive in-game items, longer mail retention, more Flea Market slots, higher Fence standing, a different menu background, and Early Test Server access. These are the contents reported in that dated 2024 summary; they are not a guarantee of what the edition currently includes or offers. See the 0.14.6 update summary.
Combat and damage-system adjustments
The 0.14.6 summary also described changes to body-hitbox penetration and armor penetration, alongside reduced inertia strength, aim punch, damage blur, and camera shake while shooting. These are specific changes to damage and combat feel; they do not by themselves establish that the whole game became easier or more realistic.

How did Arena progression connect to Tarkov?
For the June 6 update cycle, Battlestate Games announced EFT patch 0.14.9.0 and Arena patch 0.1.8.0. The official-channel material described synchronized profiles between the games and a unified reputation value with the new trader Ref. It also said Arena operational tasks and Ref quests contributed to that reputation. The announcement links to patch notes, but its indexed material does not provide a complete feature list. Battlestate Games’ official channel.
The developer also announced higher ruble-transfer limits in both directions between EFT and Arena and a reduction in the Arena-to-EFT transfer commission from 20% to 15%. Those percentages describe the announced 2024 change, not necessarily the current transfer rules. See Battlestate Games’ official-channel updates.

What happened during the PvE rollout?
Persistent progression was a central part of the PvE co-op feature described in the April edition summary, but the June rollout also had a reported issue: Battlestate Games acknowledged that some players’ progress after successful PvE raids was not being saved and said a technical update fixed it. The announcement establishes that some players were affected and that a fix was issued; it does not establish that all players experienced the problem or specify how long it lasted. In August, Battlestate Games announced EFT 0.15.0.0 and Arena 0.2.0.0 updates and said a wipe would accompany them. The announcement links to the patch notes, but the available excerpt does not expose enough of those notes to support a complete list of 0.15 features. Battlestate Games’ official channel.

Marathon was described by the developer as a PvP-only event. During the event, location transits were available only in the corresponding game mode; afterward, Battlestate Games said transitions would be available in all raids. This was an event-specific rule, not evidence that every later map transition follows the same system. See the developer’s Marathon announcement.
How should players make sense of the year’s changes?
- For a new mode: The Unheard Edition’s dated feature list centered on access to co-op PvE, with progression described as persistent across wipes.
- For combat: The 0.14.6 summary documents specific penetration and feedback-effect adjustments, rather than a blanket change to difficulty.
- For players of both games: June’s announcements connected EFT and Arena through profiles and Ref reputation, and changed announced ruble-transfer terms.
- For event-focused play: Marathon’s restricted transit applied during that PvP-only event; it should not be generalized to permanent map rules.
These milestones cover different types of change and do not support a universal recommendation about which edition every player should choose. Edition contents, transfer rules, and availability can change, so check current official information before relying on the dated 2024 details.
