It adds six levels of PvE Prestige, which reset PvE Zone progression in exchange for permanent perks, and it reworks how PMC bots are equipped, how hard they fight, and how they treat other factions. Battlestate Games documents these changes in its official patch announcement on Steam. Inven Global’s October 6, 2026 report summarizes the same update and adds a few spawn details that the official excerpts do not show.
When the patch went live
Inven Global reports that Patch 1.2.0.0 was released on October 6, 2026, with maintenance beginning at 4:00 PM KST (Korea Standard Time) that day. That time is the report’s regional deployment context. Players in other regions should check the official Steam announcement or the in-game launcher for the start time in their own time zone.
PvE Prestige
Prestige is a reset system for high-level characters. Resetting PvE progression is optional, and it is intended to give players a reason to replay the PvE game with a permanent carry-over of part of their character. The patch adds six PvE Prestige levels.
Who can use it and what it requires
The official notes say Prestige eligibility can depend on several conditions. Each Prestige level has its own requirement set, and the requirements grow more demanding with each subsequent level. The conditions named in the announcement are:

The first PvE Prestige level has lower requirements than the PvP equivalent. Players who have never reset their progression since the game’s release can use Prestige to unlock release content, the storyline, the Icebreaker chapter, and future events that are gated behind a reset.
What resets and what carries over
A Prestige reset applies only to PvE Zone progression. PvP progression is not part of the reset. The table below lists what the official announcement says is kept.

Rewards that work across modes
Not every Prestige reward stays with the PvE character. The official notes say many rewards remain with that character, while a separate set is available across all modes. The cross-mode set includes TarCoins, unique dogtags, shooting-range targets, posters, melee weapons, Tarko figurines, and a Gamma secure container. Do not assume that every PvE Prestige reward follows you into PvP.
PMC bot difficulty and behavior
PMC bots are the AI-controlled soldiers that stand in for player-faction operators in raids. Patch 1.2.0.0 changes how their gear, weapons, and combat difficulty are set, and it changes how they interact with each other and with Scav bots.

Gear and difficulty by level and faction
According to the official announcement, a PMC bot’s gear, weapons, and combat difficulty now depend on its level and faction. Lower-level bots are described as less threatening and equipped with gear associated with lower trader loyalty levels. Higher-level bots can carry better weapons and high-level equipment. The announcement does not give numeric difficulty values, so the change is described in relative terms only.
Faction relations between USEC and BEAR
USEC and BEAR PMC bots are now more likely to team up instead of treating each other as automatically hostile. The announcement also says rare neutral PMC bots may appear. These bots stay neutral until a player approaches or attacks them.
Rank #4
Interactions with Scav bots and player Scavs
PMC bots are less likely to stay neutral toward Scav bots, and they engage Scav bots more often. Player Scavs are treated differently. PMC bots will not attack a player Scav first unless the player approaches or attacks them first.

Inven Global reports that the patch changes PvE spawns so that PMC bots are present at raid start, with less variance in their numbers and a slight average increase. Inven also reports that PMC bots are added to the Labyrinth. These spawn details appear in Inven’s report and are not visible in the official excerpts reviewed for this article, so treat them as Inven’s account rather than confirmed official text.

Customs and quality-of-life updates
The official announcement lists the following changes beyond Prestige and bots.
Customs
- PMC and Scav exits are adjusted, and new exits are added.
- Additional loot spots are added.
- Locked containers now guarantee loot.
Movement, inventory, and interface
- Server-side position synchronization is improved. The notes say this is intended to reduce rubber-banding.
- A Ctrl+LMB trading switch is added. The excerpts reviewed do not spell out its exact behavior.
- Friends can be pinned to the top of the friend list.
- A Run-Through indicator is added.
- Drum magazine handling is improved.
- PMC dogtags can be inspected.
- Profile-ending selection is added.
What the patch does and does not establish
The official announcement documents the mechanics and the intended adjustments. It does not include player data, telemetry, or controlled comparisons, so the sources do not show whether encounters are more realistic, more balanced, or more enjoyable after release. The “six PvE Prestige levels” figure is a count of features announced by Battlestate Games, not a measured result. Inven Global paraphrases the developer’s reasoning for the bot changes but does not attribute a direct quotation, and this article does not attribute one either. For claims about how the changes feel in practice, wait for player reports that measure them.
