Escape from Tarkov Patch 1.2.0.0 released on October 6, 2026, with a developer-described overhaul of PvE PMC bot behavior. The update changes how PMC bots relate to USEC, BEAR, Scavs and bosses; how they move around locations; where and when they spawn; and how their gear and threat scale with level and faction.
Which bots are affected?
The official Patch 1.2.0.0 notes describe these AI changes in the context of PvE. They do not establish that the same changes apply to PvP PMC encounters.
How PMC bot relationships change
- USEC and BEAR bots: They are significantly more likely to team up and remain non-hostile toward one another.
- PMC bots and player PMCs: A small chance has been added for a PMC bot to remain neutral toward a PMC player until approached or attacked.
- PMC bots and Scavs: PMC bots are less likely to remain neutral toward Scav bots and more likely to initiate combat with Scavs and bosses.
- Player Scavs: PMC bots will not attack a player Scav first unless that player approaches or attacks them.
The notes describe these outcomes qualitatively. They do not give percentages for the new relationship chances or hostility rates.
How bots move and appear around locations
PMC bots are intended to move more actively toward points of interest and task areas. Their routes should be less linear and more varied, and they may appear in places they did not visit before. In practice, the stated aim is encounters shaped by more than bots following predictable paths or remaining in familiar areas.

- Custom made based on beanie from Escape from Tarkov
- A great gift for the holidays or to add to your Tarkov collection
- Perfect for raiding!
The patch also says PMC bots should be present from the start of a raid on a location, with more consistent numbers and more evenly distributed spawns. It adds PMC bot spawns to The Labyrinth. The notes say locations receive bots at appropriate levels, citing The Lab as an example where more high-level PMC bots should appear.
How bot gear and combat difficulty scale
Equipment, weapons and combat difficulty are tied to bot level and faction. The patch notes describe low-level PMC bots as less threatening and equipped with gear associated with lower trader Loyalty Levels. Higher-level bots are described as more dangerous, with better weapons and higher-level equipment.
