Among the major games that directly adapt the original animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Burning Earth is the strongest pick for a series fan, while Quest for Balance is the easiest to approach on a current platform. This is a scoped ranking of four major direct adaptations—not a claim to catalogue every Avatar-branded web, mobile, regional, or crossover game.
How this ranking works
The games are ranked by how well they serve a fan looking for the show’s characters and world in a playable adventure: adaptation, combat and exploration, variety, pacing, and practical access today. The available product listings establish release and feature details, but they do not provide a consistent body of critical evaluations for all four titles. Accordingly, the order below is an editorial judgment, not a claim of critical consensus or firsthand testing.
Platform editions can differ, especially among the older releases. The order is about the games as entries in the series, not a guarantee that every version plays identically.
The Avatar: The Last Airbender games, ranked
1. Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Burning Earth (2007)
The Burning Earth takes the top spot as the most appealing starting point among the major direct adaptations for a fan seeking a continuation of the animated series’ adventure. It is the second major console adaptation, following the 2006 game and preceding Into the Inferno in 2008. The available catalog evidence confirms its place in that sequence, but does not establish a single platform version as definitive.

Its main drawback for a new player is age: this is a legacy release, so access depends on finding the relevant platform edition. Check the exact console, region, and condition when considering a used copy.
2. Avatar: The Last Airbender – Into the Inferno (2008)
The third major adaptation is a natural choice for players who want the story to continue into the show’s final season. A secondary catalog describes it as adapting season three; that detail is not confirmed here by a primary publisher listing. Its 2008 release makes it the latest of the original console trilogy, but it remains a platform-specific older game rather than a modern, readily available release.
3. Avatar: The Last Airbender (2006)
The original game adaptation earns its place for establishing the console-game version of the series, but it is not automatically the best version to play: editions were released across Game Boy Advance, Windows, GameCube, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PSP, Wii, and Xbox. Those platforms span substantially different hardware, and the editions should not be assumed to offer the same experience. A secondary catalog identifies THQ as publisher.
If you are shopping for it, identify the platform before comparing copies. The title alone is not enough to establish which version a listing contains.

4. Avatar: The Last Airbender – Quest for Balance (2023)
Quest for Balance is the newest direct adaptation in this ranking and the most straightforward option for someone who wants a current-platform release. Nintendo’s Switch listing, dated September 22, 2023, describes an 18-chapter action-adventure with nine playable characters, elemental abilities, environmental puzzles, and solo or two-player co-op. Nintendo lists GameMill as publisher and BamTang Games as developer; Steam independently lists the same release date, developer, and publisher.
It ranks last here because a modern release is not the same thing as the strongest adaptation. Steam’s page showed 37% positive from 156 user reviews when retrieved in 2026. That is a time-sensitive Steam user-review snapshot—not a critic score, a permanent consensus, or a measure of all players’ opinions. For the Switch, Nintendo lists a game-card edition. Its listing says multiplayer needs a compatible controller per player, so local co-op may require an extra controller.

What are all the Avatar: The Last Airbender games?
The four major direct adaptations covered here are Avatar: The Last Airbender (2006), The Burning Earth (2007), Into the Inferno (2008), and Quest for Balance (2023). This is the useful core list for someone asking about games that directly adapt the original animated series. It is not an exhaustive inventory of every web, mobile, regional, or crossover appearance; the available catalog evidence does not establish a definitive complete list.
Where does Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game fit?
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is an adjacent franchise release, not one of the direct adventure adaptations ranked above. Nintendo lists its release date as July 23, 2026, and describes 12 playable characters drawn from Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, and the expanded universe. Listed modes include story, arcade, offline and online versus, training, spectator, and an art gallery. Its broader franchise scope makes it relevant to an Avatar games roundup, but not to a narrowly defined ranking of games adapting the original series.
Quick Recap
Choosing one to play
- For a modern-platform option: consider Quest for Balance, whose official Switch listing establishes the game-card release and advertised features.
- For the original console trilogy: compare the specific platform editions of the 2006–2008 games rather than assuming they are interchangeable.
- For a broader Avatar fighting game: look at Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, keeping in mind that it draws characters from multiple parts of the franchise.
