The October 2025 games, ranked by player fit
This order is a guide to the audience each game is most likely to suit, not a claim that one game is objectively better than another. The list weighs genre, narrative or systems focus, and the play options Sony describes.
1. Silent Hill 2 — best for psychological horror
Sony’s announcement describes James Sunderland returning to Silent Hill, where a fogbound town, monsters, and characters facing their past establish the game’s psychological-horror identity. It is the strongest pick here for players looking for an atmospheric, story-led game suited to spooky-season play. Listed for PS5.

- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
2. Until Dawn — best for a choice-driven slasher story
In the PS5 version, rebuilt from the ground up, eight friends return to an isolated lodge. Player decisions determine who survives, making it the clearest fit for players who want their choices to shape a slasher-style story. Listed for PS5.
3. Yakuza: Like a Dragon — best for a character-focused RPG
Ichiban Kasuga returns from prison and becomes entangled in a conflict in Yokohama alongside a group of allies. Sony highlights 19 combat Jobs, giving the game a systems layer to go with its character-driven story. Choose it if you want a substantial role-playing adventure rather than a short horror experience. Listed for PS5 and PS4.
Rank #2
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
4. V Rising — best for survival systems and multiplayer choices
V Rising centers on hunting for blood, gathering resources, crafting, and rebuilding a castle. Sony describes solo play, co-op, and persistent online multiplayer, so it offers the broadest stated range of play arrangements among the survival-focused picks. Listed for PS5.
5. As Dusk Falls — best for branching crime drama
This crime drama follows two families across multiple decades, with choices shaping character outcomes. Sony also describes multiplayer, making it a natural option for players who want to discuss decisions and consequences together rather than focus on action systems. Listed for PS5 and PS4.

6. Wizard with a Gun — best for a magical co-op sandbox
Sony describes a survival sandbox for one to four players, built around resource gathering and crafting ammunition. Its cooperative option makes it a good match for a small group looking for shared exploration and systems-focused play. Listed for PS5.
7. Poppy Playtime: Chapter 1 — best for a compact horror-puzzle premise
Explore an abandoned toy factory, use a GrabPack to interact with electrical circuits and distant objects, and avoid hostile toys. The combination of puzzle interaction and horror makes this the most focused, compact-sounding entry in the lineup. Listed for PS5 and PS4.
Rank #4
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
8. Tekken 3 — best for classic arcade fighting
Unlike the other games in this ranking, Tekken 3 is a classic fighting game rather than a new narrative adventure. Sony lists Arcade, Versus, Team Battle, and Practice modes, along with enhancements including up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and video filters. It ranks here because it serves a more specific retro fighting-game audience, not because it is inherently inferior. It is the Premium Classics title, listed for PS5 and PS4.
