Super Mario Party Jamboree has seven boards: five new settings and two returning favorites. This ranking favors boards that combine meaningful route choices with distinctive events and replayable decisions; it is an editorial judgment, not a consensus. Your preferred order may change with party rules, Pro Rules, turn count, and how much chance your group enjoys.

Nintendo’s official board descriptions establish the roster, while Nintendo Life’s board guide details several mechanics and progression unlocks.

How this ranking works

The order weighs route choice and player agency, how often a board creates interesting or disruptive moments, how well its theme connects to its mechanics, and whether its ideas can stay engaging for different groups. A strong gimmick is not automatically a strength if players have little ability to plan around it. None of these criteria is a measured score, and the ranking does not claim one board is objectively best.

7. Mario’s Rainbow Castle

This returning board has a clear, memorable premise: follow a winding route through the clouds to the castle tower, where Toad can be replaced by Imposter Bowser. That destination switch gives the board a striking central event, but the available descriptions establish less route variety and fewer distinct decision points here than on the boards ranked above it. Its appeal is strongest for players who want a nostalgic setting and a simple, dramatic objective.

#1 Best Overall
Super Mario Party Jamboree for Nintendo Switch
  • Get ready for the biggest party yet in Super Mario Party Jamboree for Nintendo Switch. From running through merry-go-rounds to motion-control minigolf, this jamboree is jam-packed with over 110 minigames – the most of any Mario Party game to date!
  • With seven boards in all, you can go with the flow in Goomba Lagoon, search for stars in Rainbow Galleria, revisit the classics of Western Land and Mario’s Rainbow Castle from past titles and more.
  • Race across the party board in Koopathlon, a series-first 20-player online competition to see who can rack up the highest scores in minigames like the fast-paced Lane Change. The higher your score in each round, the faster you’ll get to the goal. Koopathlon is just one of a slew of additional modes – there’s something for every kind of Mario Party player to enjoy!

6. Roll ’em Raceway

Roll ’em Raceway turns the board into a high-speed track, with Stars in fixed locations in the upper and lower lanes. Dice Stops, Jump Pads, and a Swap Machine add ways to alter movement or position. The lane setup gives players a useful sense of direction, but its race concept can feel more like committing to a track than navigating a changing board full of competing routes.

5. King Bowser’s Keep

King Bowser’s Keep is the final board unlocked through progression, and its premise is Impostor Bowser’s secret base under attack. Explosive events give it a strong, theatrical identity. That makes it a natural pick for players who want a more volatile finish, though a board built around attacks may suit groups that welcome disruption better than players seeking steady control over their plans.

4. Western Land

Returning from Mario Party 2, Western Land keeps its interactive train: players caught on its track can be sent back to the start. Nintendo Life’s review says the Jamboree version retains the original’s look and feel while adding shops and junctions and reducing the number of spaces. Those junctions make the route more interesting, while the train supplies a recognizable source of risk. It ranks just outside the top three because its signature event can be more disruptive than strategic.

3. Goomba Lagoon

Goomba Lagoon’s tide is the board’s defining decision-maker. The changing water can open or close paths around its island and Goomba-shaped volcano, so players must adapt rather than follow one dependable route. Ziplines cross flooded areas, and fishing spots, treasure chests, and eruptions add variety to the setting. That blend of shifting routes and events gives it a strong balance of planning and surprise.

2. Rainbow Galleria

Nintendo calls Rainbow Galleria “A three-story shopping mall crammed with stores to visit!” The mall’s layered setting is paired with item flash sales every five turns, Koopa Stamp Stations, and raffles, according to Nintendo Life’s guide. These features create several reasons to think about when and where to spend time, rather than treating movement as a race to the Star alone. The regular sales give the board a clear rhythm; the trade-off is that players who dislike shopping or added chance may prefer a less busy setting.

1. Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party

Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party takes the top spot for combining an easy-to-read forest setting with movement that can change as the game unfolds. Players can ride Wiggler when it moves, while napping Piranha Plants and honey pots that award coins add local events and rewards. The board’s central character can affect everyone’s route, but the setting also offers smaller reasons to pay attention along the way. It is the most rounded choice here for groups looking for a mix of movement, events, and theme.

Board unlocks

Nintendo Life’s guide, published October 24, 2024, reports that four boards are available at the start and that the remaining three unlock through progression:

  • Available at the start: Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party, Rainbow Galleria, Goomba Lagoon, and Roll ’em Raceway.
  • Unlocks: Western Land first, then Mario’s Rainbow Castle, and finally King Bowser’s Keep.

The guide describes progression through achievements and rewards-pass rankings, with unlock rankings extending to level 50. Treat those details as the guide’s report rather than a guarantee for every current edition or game version.

Which board should you choose?

Choose Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party for a balanced mix of movement and board events, or Rainbow Galleria if you enjoy shopping mechanics and recurring opportunities. Goomba Lagoon stands out if shifting routes are your priority; Western Land is the nostalgic option with a disruptive train. Players who prefer a straightforward race may gravitate to Roll ’em Raceway, while King Bowser’s Keep is the pick for a more explosive atmosphere. Those preferences can reasonably produce a different ranking from this one.
