Talismans are equipable items that grant passive effects, from faster stamina recovery to stronger attacks, greater damage negation, or extra utility. Their value depends on your build, weapon, and the encounter—not on a universal ranking. PCGamesN’s guide, updated August 21, 2024, lists 93 talismans in the base game and 39 in Shadow of the Erdtree, for 132 across its coverage. The current October 2026 game build has not been independently checked here.
What talismans do—and how to choose them
A talisman occupies an equipment slot and adds a passive effect while equipped. The useful question is what your setup needs now: more damage, better protection against a particular threat, stamina recovery, or another utility benefit. An offensive talisman that suits one weapon or play style may contribute little to another.
- Match the effect to your build: favor bonuses that support the weapon and combat approach you actually use.
- Prepare for the encounter: damage-negation talismans can be selected around the threats you expect to face.
- Compare recovery and offense: stamina recovery can help sustain actions, while attack bonuses prioritize damage.
- Check the exact tier: some talismans have upgraded variants, such as +1 or +2; use the effect and trade-off of the particular variant rather than treating all tiers as identical.
For instance, the source guide describes the Green Turtle Talisman as raising stamina recovery speed, while the DLC’s Two-Headed Turtle Talisman greatly raises it. These are distinct items, and their locations differ.
How many talismans are there?
PCGamesN’s August 21, 2024 guide covers 93 talismans in the base game and 39 added by Shadow of the Erdtree, a combined total of 132 in that guide’s inventory. Treat that as a dated guide count, not as a count independently verified against the October 2026 game build.

Shadow of the Erdtree released worldwide on June 21, 2024, and requires the base game, according to Bandai Namco’s February 22, 2024 announcement. The announcement lists PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam. Read the publisher’s release announcement.

Finding every item, including upgraded variants
The full list is long, and similar names can refer to separate upgrade tiers. Use an inventory reference that distinguishes each exact name and variant instead of assuming a location or effect carries over unchanged.

- Open the PCGamesN talisman guide, which includes paired base-game and DLC inventories with item names, effects, and locations.
- Find the exact talisman name and tier you want, including its “+” suffix where applicable.
- Check the listed effect and location for that specific entry, then use the game’s map and exploration to reach it.
- For an expansion item, confirm you are looking at the DLC inventory; the expansion requires the base game.
The linked inventory was updated August 21, 2024. It is a practical reference for the items it lists, but it does not establish whether a later game update changed any entry.

Choose around the problem you are trying to solve, then reassess when your weapon, build, or opponent changes. A setup focused on stamina recovery may help a character that relies on repeated actions; a damage-negation choice is more relevant when a particular incoming damage type is the main threat. An attack-enhancing option makes sense when its effect aligns with your damage plan.

- Match each effect to your weapon and build rather than selecting by reputation alone.
- For a difficult encounter, prioritize the damage or status threat that is actually causing trouble.
- Compare the exact tier and any trade-off before replacing another equipped talisman.
- Revisit your choices when the encounter or your equipment changes.
