Giatta is Avowed’s animancer support companion: she can heal and protect nearby allies, briefly improve the party’s speed, and shock certain switches to open doors. You meet her in Emerald Stair during the main quest The Animancy Method. Bring her when you want support in combat or need her electrical command for a switch.
Who is Giatta in Avowed?
Giatta Castell is an animancer from Fior mes Ivèrno, a community of animancers that settled in the Living Lands roughly fifty years before the events described on Obsidian’s official Avowed site. Animancers study soul energy. Xbox Wire describes Giatta as brilliant and outspoken, and says her work has drawn suspicion. She is looking for a way to address the Dreamscourge while helping the Envoy understand the Living Lands’ unusual metaphysical ecosystem, according to Xbox Wire’s June 9, 2024 companion feature.
How to recruit Giatta
Gamer Guides places Giatta’s recruitment in Emerald Stair, the game’s second region, during the main quest The Animancy Method. Its companion guide gives that quest and region as the encounter point; it does not establish a more exact sequence of steps.
What are Giatta’s abilities?
Giatta’s kit is built around party support rather than a single burst-damage specialty. Her abilities cover an emergency heal, temporary protection, a short speed boost, and smaller ongoing healing tied to her attacks. The values below are those listed in Gamer Guides’ companion guide; ability balance can change with game updates.

VULKK’s companion guide, updated March 10, 2025, also describes her as a healing and defensive support companion. It lists upgrades including stronger healing from Purification and damage reduction from Acceleration; exact balance values should be treated as version-sensitive.
When should you bring Giatta?
Choose Giatta when you value healing, temporary protection, and a speed boost more than adding a companion primarily for offense or crowd control. Her support can help a party that needs recovery and survivability, while Reconstruction offers a modest healing benefit as she fights. Her companion command can also shock certain switches to open locked doors. That utility is situational rather than mandatory: Gamer Guides notes that electric grenades can serve as an alternative for the switch interaction.

What does Giatta’s training improve?
Guide-reported training dialogue in Shattersc थपarp can award one of three attribute combinations: +2 Intellect, +2 Resolve, or +1 to each. VULKK and Gamer Guides place the session after sufficient story progress and companion dialogue, with Gamer Guides advising players to exhaust her dialogue. Those guides do not establish an exact quest flag or guarantee a particular trigger order.
