Sony said the combined event covered more than 30 games, mixing new reveals with release dates, demos, expansions, updates, a film clip and physical products. The biggest closing segment was an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation, due on PS5 April 8, 2027.
Two broadcasts, one September 3 event
The general State of Play featured PlayStation Studios and third-party partners; State of Play Japan focused on upcoming games from studios in Japan and Asia. Some stories appeared across the two broadcasts, so this roundup treats them as one double-show event rather than implying every item appeared in a single presentation. Sony’s recap is alphabetized, not a running order. See the official announcement and trailer roundup for the complete trailer-by-trailer list.
The announcements below are grouped by what they offer: the closing centerpiece, newly revealed games, dates and demos, and updates to existing games. Release dates and plans are publisher-announced and may change.
The closing centerpiece: Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches on PS5 April 8, 2027. The extended gameplay segment closed the general show. Square Enix describes this as the final entry in its remake series, with an open world, exploration aboard the Highwind airship, chocobo companion Piko, grappling traversal, the new FITS combat system and the return of Queen’s Blood. Square Enix’s announcement has more on the release and gameplay.
