Highguard released on January 26, 2026—but it is no longer playable. Wildlight Entertainment ended the free-to-play shooter’s service on March 12, 2026, according to contemporaneous reports.
When did Highguard come out?
Xbox Wire reported on January 26, 2026, that Highguard launched that day. It was a free-to-play, 3v3 first-person raid shooter from Wildlight Entertainment, available on Xbox Series X|S at launch.
The game had been revealed at The Game Awards in December 2025, with a January 2026 launch window. The January 26 date is the actual release date, not a planned or upcoming one.
Can you still play Highguard?
No. Wildlight ended Highguard’s service on March 12, 2026. TechRadar reported the shutdown announcement on March 4 and said the game would no longer be playable after the service ended. Gematsu also reported March 12 as the end-of-service date.

Who made Highguard—and is it connected to Apex Legends or Titanfall?
Highguard was developed and independently published by Wildlight Entertainment as the studio’s debut game. Wildlight described its team as veterans of Apex Legends, Titanfall, and Call of Duty in its December 11, 2025 reveal announcement.
That background describes the developers’ previous experience; it does not make Highguard an official Apex Legends or Titanfall game, sequel, or release from those franchises’ publishers.

What was Highguard’s launch model?
Highguard launched as a free-to-play game. Its launch materials described optional purchases as cosmetic-only, direct purchases with no gameplay effects, loot boxes, or random-number-based rewards. The PlayStation Store listing also identified optional in-game purchases. These details describe the game at launch; its service has since ended.
