Eye of the Match is an indie football simulation about reviewing match footage as a virtual referee. Instead of controlling players on the pitch, you assess replays and decide whether to call an infringement—or let outside influences affect your judgment.
What is Eye of the Match?
Eye of the Match is a project by André Cardoso associated with Mix and Jam. It puts the player in the role of a virtual football referee reviewing incidents, rather than in the role of a player or manager. Soccer Gaming described its premise as a choice between making fair decisions and allowing external influences to shape them.
That setup is the source of the game’s mischievous hook: you can aim to make the right call, or be a less-than-impartial official. The available description establishes that broad premise, but not the specific incidents, controls, consequences, or systems the finished game will include.
Is it a conventional football game?
No. The central activity described for Eye of the Match is reviewing football replays and judging possible infringements. It is not presented as a game in which you control a team through a match. Its appeal is the unusual officiating perspective: deciding what happened in a replay, rather than trying to score or manage a club.
