Unlike a standard season or career mode, Braking Point puts characters and team relationships at the center while still asking you to race and meet objectives. Its story is delivered through gameplay, cinematic cutscenes, and choices made on and off the track.
Who and what is the story about?
The story centers on Konnersport Butler F1 Racing Team, a fictional newcomer competing against established real-world teams. Its key characters include:

How does the mode play?
You progress through races and story scenes, with objectives shaping the rhythm of each chapter. EA says on-track and off-track decisions affect your Performance and Reputation levels; those levels unlock bonus objectives and rewards across the two seasons. The descriptions establish that choices are part of the experience, but do not specify particular branching endings or guaranteed outcomes.

Codemasters’ Senior Creative Director Lee Mather described the return of the mode as an opportunity for players to immerse themselves in a racing story with returning and new characters: “The return of Braking Point allows players to immerse themselves in a racing story, with a host of new and returning characters and surprising twists.”
Why does Braking Point 2 matter?
It gives F1 23 a narrative option alongside its racing-focused modes. Rather than building your own long-term career from a blank slate, you follow established characters through team pressure, rivalry, and personal ambitions. For players drawn to sports-game stories, that blend of authored drama and driving is the mode’s main distinction.

It also continues a story first introduced in F1 2021, while adding Callie Mayer and a new fictional team to the cast. That continuity can add context for returning players, though the available official descriptions do not make the earlier game a technical prerequisite.
How do you access Braking Point 2?
The mode is included in F1 23; it was not announced as a separately sold game. EA’s launch information listed F1 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through the EA App, Epic Games Store, and Steam. Those are launch-era platform details, not confirmation that the game is currently in stock or available at a particular price. Check the current listing for your platform before buying.
