If F1 25 crashes, freezes, or will not start on PS5, work through these 10 troubleshooting steps in order. They are general PlayStation and EA recommendations—not confirmed F1 25-specific cures—and none is guaranteed to fix the problem. Start with updates and restarts; move to license, storage, reinstall, and Safe Mode checks only if needed.
First, identify what is happening
Note whether F1 25 closes to the PS5 home screen, freezes, fails to launch, or the entire console shuts down. These symptoms do not establish the same cause. The official guidance below covers general game crashes and game-start errors; it does not diagnose a hardware fault or confirm a current F1 25-specific bug or patch. EA’s F1 25 support hub is the place to check for game-specific support information.

EA’s general crash guidance says, “If your game keeps crashing or freezing, try closing background apps.” On PS5, close F1 25 before restarting or changing settings, and avoid running other games or apps while testing.

Try internal storage if the game is on an external drive
If F1 25 is installed on external storage, try installing or moving it to the PS5’s internal storage and test again. EA suggests comparing external and internal storage as a troubleshooting step; this does not establish that the drive is the cause.
-
Reinstall F1 25
If the earlier checks do not help, EA recommends reinstalling the game. Use the PS5’s game-management options to remove and reinstall F1 25. This is a later troubleshooting step, not an assured repair.

Use Safe Mode for a game-start problem
If F1 25 will not start or you are seeing a game-start error, PlayStation’s guidance includes Safe Mode options to clear the cache and rebuild the database. Follow the official game-launch troubleshooting instructions to enter Safe Mode and select the relevant option. PlayStation’s CE-109573-5 instructions specifically list Clear Cache and Rebuild Database > Rebuild Database. This guidance is for applicable game-start issues; it is not established as a fix for every crash.

After rebuilding the database, check for another system update
If the problem remains after rebuilding the database, PlayStation’s instructions for error CE-109573-5 say to check for a system software update. This follow-up is tied to that PlayStation guidance and is not a diagnosis of every F1 25 crash.

If none of the applicable steps resolves the problem, record any error code and describe what happened just before the crash: whether the game was launching or already running, whether it froze or closed, and whether the PS5 itself shut down. EA directs players with continuing crashes to EA support; PlayStation likewise asks players to provide error details when contacting support.

What not to assume
- A game crash or freeze by itself does not show that the PS5 has a hardware fault. These support steps do not diagnose hardware.
- Safe Mode cache and database options are relevant to supported game-start troubleshooting, not a verified remedy for every F1 25 crash.
- The official guidance cited here does not establish crash rates, success percentages, or a guaranteed F1 25-specific fix.
- Do not treat a factory reset or deleting saved data as routine next steps: the cited general guidance does not recommend them as standard fixes for this issue.
