If F1 Manager 2024 crashes on Nintendo Switch, first check for a game update: Frontier documented a Switch-only fix for a crash that could happen while loading into a race. If updating does not help—or your crash happens at another point—follow Nintendo’s troubleshooting steps in order: restart the console, update its system software, check the game for corrupt data, then redownload or test the game in system memory.

What the known Switch crash fix covers

Frontier’s August 23, 2024 update 1.6 notes say: “Fixed crash that could occur when loading into race (Nintendo Switch only).” Frontier later confirmed that Switch update 1.7 included the changes from update 1.6 and was available to players on September 9, 2024. Read Frontier’s update 1.6 notes and its update 1.7 announcement.

That fix is specific to a crash while loading into a race. It does not establish the cause of a crash on startup, in a menu, or at another point, and it does not confirm which version is installed on your console. Frontier’s February 25, 2025 update 1.11 notes list “Various stability & performance improvements” and include Switch among supported platforms, but do not identify another specific Switch crash fix. Check the installed game for updates rather than assuming it is current.

Troubleshoot the crash in a safe order

  1. Restart the Switch

Hold the POWER button for at least three seconds, choose Power Options, then Restart. If the console is unresponsive, hold POWER for twenty seconds to force it to shut down, then turn it on again. Nintendo’s restart instructions cover both situations.

  2. Install available system and game updates

To update the console, open System Settings from HOME, scroll to System, then select System Update.

To update F1 Manager 2024, highlight its icon on HOME without starting the game, press + or −, choose Software Update, then Via the Internet. These are Nintendo’s standard update steps; an update may not resolve a crash with a different cause. See Nintendo’s software-update instructions.

  3. Check for corrupt game data

Go to System Settings → Data Management → Manage Software → F1 Manager 2024 → Check for Corrupt Data. If the console reports a problem, follow its prompts. Nintendo explains how to check downloaded software.

  4. Redownload the game if it still crashes

If the check and update do not resolve the problem, Nintendo lists deleting and redownloading the affected downloaded title as a possible next step. Use Nintendo’s guidance for redownloading eShop content.

  5. Test storage if the game is on microSD

If F1 Manager 2024 is installed on a microSD card, try another card or remove the card and download the game to system memory. This is a diagnostic comparison, not proof that the card is faulty. Nintendo also lists formatting a card as an option, but formatting deletes information on it; back up screenshots and videos before doing so. See Nintendo’s microSD troubleshooting guidance.

Keep a short record before contacting support: the full error code or message, when the crash occurs, the installed game version, your Switch model, and whether the game is stored on a microSD card or in system memory. Nintendo directs players to contact its support if its troubleshooting steps do not solve the problem. Frontier’s update notes direct players to its F1 Manager 24 issue tracker for issues not covered by earlier patches.
