Yes. Bethesda Game Studios confirmed on July 17, 2026, that it is working on remasters of both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. The studio did not announce release dates, platforms, prices, features, or which teams are developing them.
What Bethesda confirmed
In its July 17, 2026 statement, Bethesda Game Studios said: “While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.” That makes the projects official, rather than merely rumored. The statement does not say when either remaster will be ready.
What has not been announced
Bethesda has not specified platforms, pricing, preorder details, physical editions, technical or gameplay changes, or a release window for either remaster. There is no confirmed basis yet for claims about a particular console, PC release, surprise launch, or feature set. Those details remain unknown until Bethesda provides them.
Is Obsidian making the remasters?
Not according to the announcement. Bethesda separately said that Obsidian Entertainment is working with Bethesda on a new Fallout project, but it did not identify that project as either remaster or name the remaster developers. The two announcements should not be treated as the same project.

How the announced remasters differ from existing editions
The original games already have published editions, but those are not the newly announced remasters. Bethesda’s Steam listing describes Fallout: New Vegas as developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Bethesda Softworks; it was released on October 19, 2010. Its Ultimate edition includes the base game and six add-ons.
Bethesda’s Steam listing identifies Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition as a Bethesda Game Studios title released on October 13, 2009, with all five Fallout 3 add-on packs. The July 2026 statement does not say whether the remasters will include this content or how they will differ from those editions.

What to watch for next
The next useful update would be official product information that establishes when and where each game will launch, what has changed, and what content and formats are included. Until then, Bethesda’s confirmation establishes that work is underway, not when players can buy or play either remaster.
