Fallout 4’s default controls depend on your platform and input device. On PC, check or change keyboard bindings at Pause menu > Options > Controls > Key Assignments; the Skills page shows skill assignments. Below are the PC keyboard-and-mouse and PS4 defaults documented in the game’s quick-reference manuals. For Xbox button labels or a setup that differs, consult the in-game controls rather than assuming another platform’s layout applies.
Where to view or change Fallout 4 controls
On PC, open Pause menu > Options > Controls > Key Assignments to see the current keyboard and mouse bindings. Bethesda also notes that skill assignments appear on the Skills page. Keybindings can be modified in the controls menu; Bethesda’s instructions for changing an autorun hotkey point to Controls > Keybindings as the place to edit bindings. The exact menu wording can vary with the platform or setup, so use the assignments shown in your game if they differ from the defaults below. For console controls, open the Player Menu’s Options menu. Bethesda identifies the console menu button as Menu on Xbox and Options on PlayStation. The PC manual also says to press Esc and select Help to reach in-game help. Bethesda: control mapping menu

Using an Xbox controller on PC
Bethesda says Fallout 4 has plug-and-play compatibility with Xbox One and Xbox 360 controllers. This guidance applies to those controller families on PC; it does not establish that every controller or configuration works without adjustment. If an Xbox One controller is not working as expected on PC, Bethesda’s troubleshooting guidance recommends restarting the game and computer and checking that the controller has its latest update installed. Exact Xbox button labels are not included in the retrieved help text here, so use the in-game help or a complete Xbox manual for that layout rather than translating the PS4 buttons by assumption.
