Which car is fastest in GTA Online?
It depends on whether the event permits Hao’s Special Works (HSW) upgrades and whether your platform supports them. Without HSW, the Cartuccia GT is the top-speed leader. With HSW, the Banshee GTS takes the lead. The cited ranking says HSW is available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; a race can disable HSW upgrades, so the upgraded figure does not apply automatically to every event.

Top speed is not the same as the best race car
A top-speed ranking measures straight-line speed under a defined test; it does not tell you which car will finish a circuit fastest. Cornering, acceleration, braking and the course all matter in a lap race. Broughy1322’s vehicle testing resource keeps top-speed and lap-time measurements as distinct performance measures. Use lap-time results when choosing for a circuit, and check the event’s class and upgrade rules before selecting a vehicle.

How the reported top speeds are tested
Broughy1322’s published methodology measures a vehicle’s highest constant speed after acceleration has stopped. The test uses a measured 0.2-mile section between creator checkpoints, with five runs timed and analyzed frame by frame. The methodology reports a maximum four-frame variance across results, equivalent to a maximum standard deviation of 0.25 mph; most results varied by two frames or less. These are details of this tester’s method, not a guarantee about every community ranking. Read the top-speed testing methodology.
The methodology warns that in-game menu statistics and non-digital speedometers are inaccurate for comparing vehicles. It also notes that GTA Online conditions can produce different observed speeds. A one-off speedometer reading should not be treated as equivalent to repeated, controlled testing.

Why the answer can change
Rockstar’s Title Update 1.73 notes describe the Kortz Center Heist update and new vehicles, with entries dated July 2026. The update context helps explain why older fastest-car lists may miss newer additions, but Rockstar’s notes do not publish measured vehicle speeds. The figures above should therefore be attributed to the independent ranking, and a ranking may change when later vehicles or testing updates appear.
