The dependable way to earn Weapon XP in Black Ops 6 and Warzone is to equip the weapon you want to level and use it in combat. Multiplayer, Zombies and Warzone all support weapon progression, but the official guidance available does not establish which mode levels weapons fastest. Choose the mode where you can use your target weapon consistently and spend less time out of action.
How weapon leveling works
Call of Duty’s Black Ops 6 weapons and loadouts guide says Weapon XP comes from using a weapon in combat. Weapon levels unlock modification slots and attachments, so equip the specific gun you want to progress rather than relying on general Player XP.

Activision’s progression support page says Black Ops 6 Multiplayer and Zombies earn progression XP, and that Warzone gameplay also counts toward overall player progression beginning with Season 01. Call of Duty’s 2024 global-systems announcement describes weapon leveling as shared across Multiplayer, round-based Zombies and Warzone.
Is there a fastest mode?
No mode can be called the fastest based on the cited official information: it provides no current comparison of weapon XP per minute or per match. Treat a claim that one mode is definitively best as unverified unless it is backed by current, comparable evidence.

Instead, compare the options using practical factors, not assumed XP rates:
- Playlist availability: choose a mode and playlist you can access now.
- Weapon uptime: favor situations where you can keep the target weapon equipped and use it in combat regularly.
- Downtime: consider how much of a session is spent waiting, traveling or between engagements.
- Objectives and play style: choose objectives that fit how you play, without assuming they directly multiply Weapon XP.
A practical routine for leveling a weapon
- Equip the target weapon. Make sure it is in the loadout you will actually use; Weapon XP is tied to weapon use, not simply to playing a match.
- Play actively with it. Use the weapon in combat rather than switching away for most engagements. Keeping it in hand during objectives is a practical way to stay focused on using it, not a tested fastest route.
- Choose a mode you can play consistently. Multiplayer and Zombies are identified as XP-earning modes in the official Multiplayer progression guide; official progression information also includes Warzone.
- Check the weapon’s progress in game. Use the progression screen and attachment unlocks to confirm that the intended weapon is leveling and see what it has unlocked.
Do challenges and objectives give weapon XP?
The Multiplayer progression guide recommends eliminating enemies, following objectives, winning, and completing Daily Challenges, Calling Card Challenges and Mastery Badges to earn Player XP. It does not say those activities directly boost Weapon XP. Objectives may be a sensible part of an active match, but do not treat a Player XP challenge or objective as a confirmed weapon-level multiplier.

Weapon unlocks are not attachment levels
A weapon’s availability can depend on player-rank progression, while attachment unlocks come from leveling that weapon. Call of Duty’s 2024 launch weapons guide describes rank-based weapon unlock criteria, but its launch-era list is not a current complete roster. Separately, the 2024 global-systems announcement said most primary weapons had 40–50 Weapon Levels at launch; that historical range is not a guarantee for every weapon in the live game.

Warzone is included in official descriptions of shared weapon progression, so it is a valid option for leveling a Black Ops 6 weapon. The available official sources do not verify a current contract route, playlist strategy or Warzone-specific method as the fastest. Check the live playlist and current in-game mechanics, then choose a way to play that lets you use the target weapon regularly.
