Hindi audio does not require special FFmpeg bitrate settings: YouTube’s live encoder guidance organizes recommendations by codec, resolution, and frame rate, not spoken language. For common SDR video, start with H.264, CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo; for H.264, YouTube recommends 10 Mbps at 1080p30 or 6 Mbps at 720p30. A command can send the stream, but continuous 24/7 operation also requires monitoring and a recovery plan.
Recommended FFmpeg settings for Hindi-language video
Choose settings for the source footage and the upload connection, not for Hindi as a language. YouTube’s recommendations vary with codec, resolution, and frame rate; subtitles, Hindi dialogue, bhajans, or other Hindi audio do not change the cited video bitrate targets. YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for live ingest up to 60 fps. The figures below are YouTube recommendations, not guaranteed quality outcomes. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance has the codec-specific tables.

These examples cover H.264 at 30 fps only. For another resolution, frame rate, or codec, consult YouTube’s relevant table rather than extrapolating these numbers. A higher setting is not automatically better if the original video is lower resolution or the connection cannot sustain the outgoing bitrate.
Audio and keyframes
- Rate control: Use constant bitrate (CBR) as the starting point.
- Keyframe interval: Set two seconds; YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Stereo audio: YouTube’s advanced settings list AAC or MP3, with 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps for stereo. AAC is a practical default when the input and FFmpeg build support it.
- Ingest transport: Prefer RTMPS where supported. YouTube recommends it as the secure extension to RTMP. YouTube encoder guidance and YouTube’s RTMPS guidance explain the settings.
Prepare the input, connection, and YouTube stream
- Inspect the source and FFmpeg build. Check the input file’s resolution, frame rate, audio channels, and whether its video is SDR or HDR. Confirm that your FFmpeg build includes the chosen encoder and output protocol. This example assumes common SDR material and H.264 encoding; it is a template, not a verified command for every build or file.
- Choose the output profile. Match resolution and frame rate to the source where practical. For a 1080p30 H.264 stream, use YouTube’s 10 Mbps video recommendation; for 720p30 H.264, use 6 Mbps. Avoid upscaling a smaller source just to select a higher bitrate.
- Measure sustainable upload capacity. Test the connection under conditions similar to the planned stream and leave headroom above the total outgoing bitrate, including audio. A wired Ethernet connection is an optional reliability measure for a fixed streaming computer, not a YouTube requirement.
- Create or select the YouTube Live stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room, configure the stream, and copy its server URL and stream key. YouTube describes the key as password-like; do not publish it, put it in a public command log, or share it. See YouTube’s stream URL and key guidance.
- Test before relying on the feed. YouTube advises testing with similar movement and audio to the real stream, then checking stream health and messages in Live Control Room. This matters for Hindi speech or music as much as for any other audio: listen for clipping, silence, sync problems, and unwanted background material.
FFmpeg command template for a continuous input file
Replace the input placeholder and the RTMPS destination with the values for your file and YouTube stream. Use the server URL and stream key supplied in Live Control Room; do not paste a real key into a public script or article. The example targets H.264 1080p30 SDR. If your source is 720p30, change the output size and bitrate to 6 Mbps, or choose values appropriate to a different source and YouTube’s table.

The example’s 30 fps output uses a 60-frame GOP for a two-second keyframe interval. If the source has no audio stream, the optional audio map avoids failing solely because audio is absent; remove the audio encoding options if you do not want an audio track. Check your FFmpeg version, encoder availability, and input properties before running it. FFmpeg documents its option ordering in the command-line documentation.
This template loops one file; it does not itself provide a complete 24/7 reliability system. For multiple recordings, use an intentional playlist or a supervised workflow that can restart the process, detect a stalled encoder or connection, and alert someone. Validate that the video and audio return to the beginning cleanly at each loop. Keep stream credentials private even when using a service manager or log collector.

Keep the stream running and recover from failures
A 24/7 feed depends on the computer, FFmpeg process, network, and YouTube ingest staying healthy. Continuous operation is a monitoring and recovery problem, not a property guaranteed by one command. Watch Live Control Room’s health indicators and messages, and arrange a way to notice when the process exits or the feed stops progressing.
Optional network recovery with FFmpeg’s FIFO muxer
FFmpeg documents a FIFO muxer example that processes in real time during temporary network failure and attempts recovery. Exact behavior depends on the FFmpeg build and configuration, so test it before using it for a live channel. FIFO can help with temporary output interruptions; it does not fix a failed encoder, power loss, exhausted storage, or a permanently unavailable connection. Archive expectations for very long streams
YouTube’s encoder setup help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a single continuous stream longer than that will be saved as one complete replay; if an archive matters, plan separate sessions and verify the resulting videos in YouTube Studio. Troubleshoot common FFmpeg and YouTube Live problems
