Aloalo Island has three routes—left, middle, and right—and 12 Conservation Records to collect. You can earn only one new record per run, so unlocking them all takes multiple visits. The branch determines which four records are available; specific choices and interactions determine which record you receive.
Unlocking Aloalo Island and entering the dungeon
Aloalo Island is a level 90 Variant Dungeon added in Patch 6.51. To unlock it, complete “A Satrap’s Duty,” speak with Osmon in Old Sharlayan, then accept “Stranger from Paradise” from Shallow Moor. Square Enix lists a level 90 Disciple of War or Magic requirement, an average item level of 605, an item-level sync of 665, and a 90-minute time limit in its Patch 6.51 notes.
Queue through the V&C Dungeon Finder. You can enter solo or with up to four players; party size affects difficulty, and the duty does not impose matched-party role restrictions. Each run awards at most one new Conservation Record, so plan to repeat the branch for its remaining entries.
Route map: which branch holds each record?

The exact record conditions and encounter distinctions below follow the Icy Veins Aloalo Island route guide, with the record and reward structure also summarized by the Final Fantasy XIV community wiki. The optional decisions can change boss mechanics as well as the record: choices before the first boss may alter that encounter, while later interactions shape subsequent fights and the ending entry.

Left branch: Records 1–4
Record 1: “A Not-quite Deserted Island”
When Matsya asks you to stay and fish, decline. When Zeal-blind Zozone appears, do not take aggro from the enemies; let him flee. In the later Ketuduke encounter, tethered adds must be pulled far enough apart to avoid lethal damage.
Record 2: “The First Settlers of Aloalo Island”
Decline Matsya’s request to fish, then help Zozone survive by taking enemy aggro and killing the enemies before he falls. This changes Ketuduke’s mechanics.
Record 3: “God of Heaven and Sea”
Agree to let Matsya fish. Later, interact with the sand patch to collect bait for the Southern Sow Bug. Ketuduke summons the Zaratan; the encounter includes a cleave and a bubble interaction.
Record 4: “A Noxious Gift”
Let Matsya fish, then interact with the mound of rocks to collect bait for the Southern Worm. Ketuduke summons the Ogrebon, whose Aerial Shock mechanic interacts with whether you are inside a bubble.

Middle branch: Records 5–8
Record 5: “The Roots of Arcanima”
Take the middle route and defeat enemies without triggering the other record conditions: do not kill the treant first, and do not scare the armadillos.
Record 6: “Under the Boughs of the Great Tree”
After the first boss, take both hidden paths through the red-flowered bushes and scare away both sets of armadillos. There are two hidden paths to use.
Record 7: “A Dear Friend”
Kill the treant first, then defeat the four crawler enemies on the rune. In the final group, do not target Jolly-tailed J’jhimei; let her leave.
Record 8: “Fish for the Mind”
Kill the treant first and clear the four crawlers on the rune. In the final group, target J’jhimei; she leaves after being hit. The middle route features Quaqua before its branch-specific ending, and the route outcome affects the encounter mechanics.

Right branch: Records 9–12
Record 9: “A Familiar History”
Agree to go with Statice and follow her route to the end. Her encounter includes a cushion and a flight sequence.
Record 10: “The Remnants of Faith”
Refuse Statice three times and do not open a chest. Continue along the foliage path, use the lever when it appears, and proceed to the end.
Record 11: “A Lalafell or a Fish?”
Refuse Statice three times, open a chest, defeat the enemies, use the lever, and continue to the end.

Refuse Statice three times and continue to the statue room. Complete all three rituals in the order below. Type each invocation in Say chat exactly as shown, including its period. The route guide reports that a correct step produces a circle pulse and sound; completing a statue’s full sequence makes it glow. The community wiki notes that the player with the ritual buff must perform the sequence and that each ritual has a time limit.

Sparrow statue
- In Say chat, type:
O dancer of the skies, hear me. - Use Blow Kiss (
/blowkiss). - Circle clockwise once around the statues, passing the turtle and whale, and stop at the sparrow circle.
- Use Thavnairian Dance (
/tdance) or Dance (/dance).
Whale statue
- In Say chat, type:
O messenger from beyond the horizon, hear me. - Circle clockwise twice around the statues, passing the sparrow and turtle on each loop, and stop at the whale circle.
- Circle counterclockwise once around the statues.
- Use Thavnairian Dance (
/tdance) or Dance (/dance).
Turtle statue
- In Say chat, type:
O wayfarer of land and sea, hear me. - Circle counterclockwise twice around the statues, passing the sparrow and whale on each loop, and stop at the turtle circle.
- Use Bow (
/bow).
Reach Loquloqui
After all three statues glow, go through the secret passage and defeat the enemies, including Whasbyrm. At the final pedestals, place the sparrow farthest from the boss room, the whale in the middle, and the turtle closest to the boss room. The correct arrangement reveals Loquloqui, the secret boss, and completes Record 12.
What completing the records rewards
Completing all 12 Conservation Records awards the Good-willed Hunting achievement and unlocks the Spectral Statice Whistle mount. Aloalo Potsherds earned from boss clears can be exchanged with Trisassant in Old Sharlayan for listed cosmetics and an emote. The community wiki also lists the Repulu and Uolosapa minions as possible Personal Spoils.
Variant and Criterion are separate duties
The 12-record route objective belongs to the Aloalo Island Variant Dungeon. Criterion and Criterion (Savage) are separate duties, not additional routes for this collection. In a March 11, 2026 notice, Square Enix said Elevated Ester, formerly obtainable by completing Another Aloalo Island (Savage), can also be obtained through The Merchant’s Tale (Advanced) and Another Merchant’s Tale, both released in Patch 7.45. That update concerns an alternate source for a Criterion-related upgrade item, not the Variant Dungeon’s record routes: Square Enix’s notice.
