To unlock flight in Dawntrail, collect the aether currents in each zone: ten field currents and the currents awarded by quests. Use the coordinates and landmarks below together, then complete the listed quests once their Main Scenario prerequisites are met. The location lists are from the community-maintained Aether Currents guide, last edited May 15, 2026; check in-game if a later patch or guide revision changes a route.
How to use this checklist
- There are six Dawntrail zones below, each with ten listed field currents. The quest-earned currents are listed separately, so map exploration alone may not complete a zone.
- Quest names include their Main Scenario gate where one is stated. A quest may not be available until you finish that prerequisite.
- Coordinates use the game’s X/Y/Z format. Z is elevation; cliffs, caves and multi-level structures may make a location harder to reach than the X/Y coordinates suggest. Use the landmark as well as the coordinate.

- A Journey Never-ending — Main Scenario reward. The Lodestone Eorzea Database lists it as a level 100 Dawntrail quest in Living Memory at X:11.0, Y:12.5.
What Patch 7.0 changed—and what it did not
Square Enix’s Patch 7.0 notes say the required number of aether currents was reduced in Endwalker areas, with flight unlocking for players who had already met the new requirement before the patch. That is an Endwalker-specific change; it does not establish a different Dawntrail current count.
