Patch 7.4 lets FINAL FANTASY XIV players glamour equipment without matching its class, job, or level requirements—and the appearance can display regardless of the character’s current class, job, or level. The change also covers retainers, squadron members, and Custom Delivery clients. It does not remove every glamour restriction: weapons and tools still require a same-type glamour item, and race, gender, and Grand Company limits remain.
What Patch 7.4 changed
Square Enix’s Patch 7.4 Notes, updated Dec. 23, 2025 (PST), say: “Equipment can now be glamoured regardless of class or job requirements.” The notes also remove level requirements from glamour eligibility and say a glamoured appearance displays regardless of the character’s current class, job, or level.
In practical terms, the gear used for an appearance no longer has to be equippable by the character’s current class or job, or meet that character’s level. The change applies to player characters as well as retainers, squadron members, and Custom Delivery clients. Square Enix’s Dawntrail Patch 7.4 page also summarizes the removal of class, job, and level restrictions for armor and accessories.
Which glamour restrictions remain?
Weapons and tools must match the target item type
Patch 7.4 does not make weapon and tool glamour interchangeable. The glamour item must be the same type as the target: the notes give dark knight arms over dark knight arms and shields over shields as examples.

Race, gender, and Grand Company limits still apply
Restrictions based on race, gender, and Grand Company affiliation remain. Patch 7.4 removes class, job, and level barriers; it does not make every item’s appearance available to every character in every circumstance.
What happens to glamours applied before Patch 7.4?
Some equipment that was already glamoured but did not display in Patch 7.38 or earlier may display in Patch 7.4 and later. Square Enix describes this as a possibility, not a guarantee that every previously hidden glamour will appear.
Outfit glamours no longer need a complete set
Patch 7.4 also changes how outfit glamours are created and completed. A full outfit set is no longer required: you can add fewer pieces, and glamour prism use is based on the number of pieces added.
If an outfit glamour is already stored with missing pieces, use the Glamour Dresser subcommand Add Missing Outfit Gear, then select Outfit Glamour on the pieces you want to store. Prism use for those additions is based on the number of pieces added. The update also adds outfit glamours for additional gear implemented before Patch 7.1, including job-specific gear, race-specific gear, and other miscellaneous fashion items. These details are in the official Patch 7.4 Notes.

After Patch 7.4, Square Enix reported an Adventurer Plate portrait-saving error under specified cross-class or cross-job glamour conditions, including job-exclusive glamours. The company said applying those glamours was intended and the error stemmed from portrait processing—not a new restriction on glamour application. Maintenance from Dec. 24 to Dec. 25, 2025 addressed the issue, according to the known-issues notice.
