Start by updating Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered, then note which game, level, and action triggers the crash. Aspyr’s Patch 2 documents fixes for multiple crashes across the collection, including several in Tomb Raider V, but its notes do not name a Steam Deck-specific fix or promise a universal remedy. Steam currently marks the collection as Deck Verified; that assessment is not a guarantee that every save or session will run without crashing.
What to do first
- Identify the failure point. Note whether the crash happens on launch, during a level, after a cutscene, during a level transition, while loading a save, or on exit. Record which game—Tomb Raider IV, V, or VI—is affected.
- Install the current game update. Then compare the exact level or event with Aspyr’s Patch 2 notes. They document multiple crash fixes, but do not establish that every current crash on Steam Deck is covered.
- If it still happens, report a reproducible case to Aspyr. Include the game, level, action immediately before the crash, whether it happens every time, game build, SteamOS version, and any recent settings or compatibility changes. Do not post account credentials or private save files publicly.
What Aspyr’s Patch 2 says about crashes
Aspyr’s Patch 2 changelog, dated August 13, 2025, says it addressed multiple issues that caused crashes across the collection. Its Tomb Raider V examples include crashes after a cutscene in Galleries Under Siege, while exiting The Vault of Trophies, during a boss-fight outfit change in Eckhardt’s Lab, and during certain level transitions. The notes also list a save-loading crash in Red Alert! on PS4 and PS5.
These are examples from the changelog, not an exhaustive list of bugs, and the PS4/PS5 save issue is not evidence of a Steam Deck problem. The official Tomb Raider announcement describes the update as including “bug fixes, crash improvements, and a variety of visual and localization updates across all three games.” Neither source identifies a universal Steam Deck crash fix.
What Steam Deck Verified does—and does not—mean here
The Steam listing displays the collection as Steam Deck Verified. That is useful compatibility context, not proof that an individual Deck, SteamOS version, game build, save, or particular crash trigger is unaffected. The listing is live, so its status may change.

Should you change Proton or reset the Deck?
No Proton version or Deck setting is established as a reliable fix for this title in the official material cited here. A compatibility change may be tried as a reversible experiment if you have a specific reason, but treat it as a test—not an official remedy—and note the original setting so you can restore it.
Likewise, the documented evidence does not establish deleting compatibility data, reinstalling, or factory-resetting the Deck as a fix. Avoid destructive steps as an initial response. A community post about Angel of Darkness FMV playback is anecdotal and does not establish that video playback or codecs cause a crash, so it is not a basis for changing system files or settings.

Where to send a remaining issue
Use the support path linked from Aspyr’s collection support article. A specific, repeatable report—especially one naming the game, level, and trigger—gives support a clearer issue to investigate than a general report that the collection crashes.
