The short answer: Olric is a villager, but the game has a separate roster of 12 marriage candidates. NPC Studio’s official materials do not confirm an Olric romance route or say that one is planned.
Why can’t players romance Olric?
Fields of Mistria distinguishes between its wider village cast and its romanceable characters. NPC Studio’s Steam listing describes 30+ villagers and invites players to become “one of 12 marriage candidates.” The studio’s 1.0 announcement likewise describes proposal and wedding events for romanceable NPCs, rather than promising a romance route for every villager.

Olric’s presence in town, then, does not by itself make him a marriage candidate. The official listing does not name him as one of the 12, and the reviewed official materials do not give an Olric-specific explanation for his status.
Why do fans want an Olric route?
Olric has a distinct place in the village cast. An independent fan guide describes him as cheerful, associates him with the Blacksmith Shop, Sleeping Dragon Inn, and General Store, and lists March as his brother. Those details help explain the appeal of a character players already encounter around town, but the guide is not an official account of the studio’s design decisions.
#1 Best Overall
In a Reddit post, one player put the request plainly: “Why oh why can’t I romance Olric,” then asked whether developers had mentioned adding existing or new romance options. That is a vivid example of the question, not a measure of how many players share it.
What are players asking for—and what do others think?
A subreddit moderator opened a dedicated Olric megathread after repeated discussion prompted requests to gather the topic in one place. The moderator’s framing, “We hear you, guys,” acknowledged the recurring conversation in that community. It does not establish how widespread the preference is among all Fields of Mistria players.

Comments reflect more than one position:
- More relationship choice: Some players want to date Olric; others would welcome friendship or roommate content even without marriage.
- A selective romance roster: Other commenters argue that not every villager needs to be romanceable, and that some characters can remain part of the town without becoming romantic options.
These are competing preferences, not a vote with a known result. The community discussion does not establish a percentage—or even a majority—of players who want Olric added to the romance roster. Fan speculation about his relationships or identity should also be treated as speculation, not game canon.

Has NPC Studio confirmed an Olric romance route?
No. NPC Studio’s official 1.0 announcement describes proposal and wedding events for romanceable NPCs, but does not identify Olric as a candidate. The studio’s roadmap says post-1.0 updates may bring additional content and surprises; it does not name an Olric route. Those general plans are not confirmation that he will become romanceable.

The 1.0 announcement set the full release for August 5, 2026 and said, “At 1.0, the game and storylines will be completable as originally envisioned.” That describes the intended completeness of the 1.0 game; it does not rule out later additions, nor does it promise a particular character route. The accurate answer is limited: the reviewed official sources neither confirm an Olric romance route nor say that one is planned.
