What to know before starting an Arsenal career

FIFA Index’s FIFA 19 Arsenal snapshot lists an 82 overall team rating, with 82 attack, 83 midfield and 80 defence, and a €92.5 million transfer budget. RealSport101 reports 4.5 stars, 84 attack, 84 midfield and 80 defence, with a £111 million transfer budget and £215,000 weekly wage budget. The snapshots use different source data and currencies; your starting figures can vary with squad update and save settings.
FIFA 19 includes Dynamic Tactics, which EA describes alongside systems such as Active Touch, 50/50 Battles and Timed Finishing on its official FIFA 19 page. Use the tactical controls available in FIFA 19 itself rather than assuming features from later EA SPORTS FC games apply.

Which formation should you use?
Begin with 4-2-3-1 Wide because it gives Özil a central attacking-midfield role, keeps Lacazette as the striker and accommodates Aubameyang on the left. Two central midfielders can provide cover, although you will need to manage their forward runs carefully.

How to set up tactics and player instructions
Use possession when you want to control the ball, or fast build-up when you want to move forward quickly; adjust according to the opponent. Press after possession loss can help win the ball back, but the RealSport101 guide cautions that Özil may make this approach less effective. Avoid turning an aggressive press into a permanent setting if it leaves space behind your midfield.

- Aubameyang: Set Stay Forward, Get In Behind and Get Into The Box For Crosses to emphasize runs beyond the defence.
- Özil: Use Free Roam to give him room to find space around the attacking third.
- Midfield cover: Keep at least one defensive midfielder on Stay Back While Attacking so a counter does not leave the back line exposed.
FIFA 19 lets you customize tactics and player roles for attacking and defensive mentalities. Make changes with the shape’s weaknesses in mind: a more aggressive attack should not remove the holding player who protects your centre-backs.
Who should you sign for Arsenal?
The period RealSport101 guide identifies left-back as a weakness and names Alex Telles as its primary target. Its prices are old in-game estimates from that guide, not reliable current market values: transfer fees and wage demands can vary by save, negotiation and squad data.

It also names Sami Khedira, Asier Illarramendi, Joshua Kimmich, Miralem Pjanić and Thiago as alternatives, but does not give comparable fee estimates for them. Before committing, compare the player’s role and wages with the cover you actually need; do not spend the entire budget on a signing who does not solve a weakness in your chosen formation.

Who should you develop, loan or sell?
Use the training menu’s green growth marker to identify players the game flags for development. RealSport101 highlights Lucas Torreira, Héctor Bellerín, Alex Iwobi, Rob Holding and Matteo Guendouzi as training candidates. FIFA Index’s snapshot provides a useful illustration of potential, but those figures are tied to that snapshot: Guendouzi is listed at 74 overall with 86 potential, Holding at 76/83, Emile Smith Rowe at 65/85 and Bukayo Saka at 65/86.

Give a youngster first-team minutes when you can offer a meaningful role; consider a loan when the player is unlikely to play enough. RealSport101 specifically suggests selective loans for Konstantinos Mavropanos, Zech Medley and Joe Willock. These are period recommendations, so check the player’s development and squad role in your own save before deciding.
The guide suggests considering sales of Carl Jenkinson and fringe players Jordi Osei-Tutu, Cohen Bramall and Gedion Zelalem. Balance any departures against the depth needed for European fixtures; a transfer can raise funds but leave you short when injuries or rotation affect the first team.

Which contracts and objectives need attention?
RealSport101’s snapshot says Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck had contracts nearing their end, recommends longer deals for Smith Rowe and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and suggests a short extension for Petr Čech. Contract situations are save-dependent: check the squad’s contract screen before using those recommendations, especially when a player’s role or plans differ from the guide’s snapshot.
The same guide reports a top-four league target, an FA Cup final target and a Europa League win target. Its financial objectives include £132 million in shirt sales and a low-importance goal to increase club worth by 15% over two seasons. These are objectives reported for that source snapshot, not guaranteed requirements in every Career Mode save; check the objectives shown in your own game.
