Manager Career puts you in charge of scouting, finances, contracts, squad selection, training and board objectives. EA describes Career as “an immersive experience that offers you the chance to play through a lifelong football career” in its FIFA 19 PC manual.

FIFA Index’s FIFA 19 Chelsea database page lists the club at 83 overall, with 85 attack, 83 midfield and 82 defence, and an average squad age of 24.4. It reports a €95 million transfer budget. These are database snapshot values, not guaranteed figures for every platform, squad update or career save. The FIFA Index Chelsea page and a historical RealSport101 guide do not agree on the budget: RealSport101 reports £112 million in transfer funds and a £266,000 wage budget. The currencies and database configurations differ, so do not combine those numbers; use the amount shown in your save.

Start with a 4-3-3
A 4-3-3 flat or another 4-3-3 variation is a practical starting point. RealSport101’s Chelsea tactics guide proposes Kepa in goal, a back four, and a midfield core of Kanté, Jorginho and on-loan Mateo Kovačić. The shape gives you a dedicated holding presence while keeping wide attackers available to stretch the defence.

Make Hazard the attacking outlet
RealSport101 suggests keeping Hazard forward and instructing him to make runs in behind. Use that as a starting instruction, not a guaranteed winning tactic: adjust his role if you want him to receive to feet or help build possession. His FIFA Index database rating is 91 overall, but ratings and squad status can vary with the save’s roster snapshot.
Use Kanté to protect the midfield
The same tactical guide recommends aggressive interceptions for Kanté. That can make him more proactive in breaking up play, but it may also pull him out of position; review his stamina and the space left in front of your defenders during matches. FIFA Index lists him at 89 overall.

Set up rotation before you need it
Do not run the same eleven through every competition. The FIFA 19 manual allows managers to create multiple team sheets for league, domestic cup and continental matches. Establish a first-choice side and an alternate lineup, then distribute minutes according to fatigue, form and development needs.

- Keep the strongest available spine for demanding fixtures: goalkeeper, central defenders and a midfield screen.
- Rotate wide attackers and fullbacks when fatigue starts to affect their availability or match contribution.
- Use cup matches and less demanding fixtures to give prospects meaningful minutes rather than leaving them indefinitely on the bench.
- Check the squad after matches and training; availability and growth should shape the next team sheet.
Develop players you already have
FIFA Index lists several useful development candidates in its FIFA 19 squad snapshot: Ruben Loftus-Cheek at 78 overall with 85 potential, Andreas Christensen at 80 with 87 potential, and Tammy Abraham at 75 with 85 potential. These ratings depend on the roster snapshot used by the save; consider them guidance for identifying roles, not promises about a player’s eventual rating.

The manual advises managers to “Monitor your team’s trainable Attributes, Current Growth, and Potential Growth.” Use training drills to focus players on attributes relevant to their intended role, and track whether their growth matches the minutes and position you are giving them. A historical RealSport101 article recommends looking at a striker and winger, selling fringe players and loaning prospects. Its named targets and prices were published in 2019 and should not be treated as current-market advice or required choices. Instead, identify a genuine squad need first: for example, recruit a forward only if your preferred system and existing options leave you short of goals or depth.
