If both teams in FIFA 21 FUT appeared in the same kit, the temporary workaround reported in May 2021 was to set your own kit to Away and the opponent’s kit to Home in the online lobby before starting the match. The issue was later listed as addressed in Title Update 15.1, so this is a historical fix—not confirmation of a current FIFA service issue.
How to avoid identical kits in a FUT match
- Open the FUT Division Rivals or FUT Friendlies online lobby before the match.
- In kit selection, set your own kit to Away.
- Set the opponent’s kit to Home, then proceed to the match.
The May 2021 report said to repeat these selections for every affected match; it did not describe a permanent setting. FifaUltimateTeam.it’s workaround report identified the procedure as temporary.

Why FIFA 21 showed both teams in the same kit
After Title Update 15, a reported bug in Division Rivals and FUT Friendlies could leave both teams wearing the same kit when automatic kit selection was used in the lobby. The May 2021 report identified PC and Stadia as affected platforms at that time; it does not establish that the issue persisted on other platforms or remains active today. Read the original report.
Was the identical-kit issue fixed?
Title Update 15.1 patch notes listed “Division Rivals and FUT Friendlies matches could display incorrect and identical kits for both teams” among the issues addressed. Operation Sports’ May 26, 2021 coverage reported the update was released for PC that day and was coming to consoles. The contemporary FIFA 21 Title Update history provides the update record.

The 15.1 notes also said a prior fix for Co-Op lobbies that could show a placeholder goalkeeper kit instead of the captain’s selected kit was reintroduced as part of the quick fix. That was a separate kit-display issue, not the same workaround.
