FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is the Final Fantasy game covered by the PS5 Pro Enhanced Mode update. The mode combines elements of Performance and Graphics modes: Square Enix describes it as targeting the fluid motion of 60 fps while delivering resolution comparable to Graphics Mode through PSSR. What does the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 Pro update do?
Square Enix added Enhanced Mode in PS5 version 1.050, announced on 5 November 2024. It is selectable when playing FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH on PS5 Pro. The publisher says PSSR allows the mode to combine Performance Mode’s fluid motion with resolution comparable to Graphics Mode; it also says rendering was optimized for PS5 Pro and the game uses High CPU Frequency Mode for a more stable experience. These are Square Enix’s descriptions, not independent benchmark results. Square Enix’s version 1.050 notice lists the mode along with bug fixes and general functionality and stability improvements.

The update was part of the PS5 Pro launch lineup: Sony included Rebirth among games receiving free PS5 Pro Enhanced software updates in its 7 November 2024 launch announcement. The mode is specific to the Pro version; it is not a new mode for standard PS5.

Square Enix describes Enhanced Mode as delivering the fluid motion of 60 fps Performance Mode. That is a mode description, not a guarantee of a locked 60 fps in every scene or a published independent test. The 2024 announcement does not give a numeric output resolution either: “comparable” to Graphics Mode should not be read as a stated resolution figure or a promise of exact image-quality parity.

Before the update, Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi described the planned mode as pairing 60 FPS with PSSR resolution on par with Graphics Mode in a PlayStation Blog technical presentation. Enhanced Mode is the resulting option for players who want a balance between the two existing modes rather than choosing Performance or Graphics outright.
What is the latest Rebirth PS5 Pro update?
Square Enix’s latest listed PS5 update is version 1.090, dated 3 June 2026. It includes optimization for the evolved version of PSSR. PlayStation Blog had reported on 16 March 2026 that upgraded PSSR support was beginning to roll out with PS5 system software and named Rebirth among the games receiving the technology. In its update announcement, Hamaguchi assessed the newer processing as restoring fine details such as character hair more naturally, with less flickering and afterimage feeling; that is the director’s evaluation, not a measured comparison. Version 1.090 also added Game Boost and New Game Plus. Those are separate update features, not PS5 Pro-exclusive features. The version and date are listed in Square Enix’s 3 June 2026 update notice.

What changed after Enhanced Mode launched?
Square Enix’s update history records version 1.070 as addressing an issue that affected the appearance of certain characters when Enhanced Mode was used on PS5 Pro. This follow-up matters because the initial mode description was not the last word on its presentation. The publisher’s history of updates is available on the Rebirth update page.

Did Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade get a PS5 Pro update?
No. Square Enix clarified on 22 October 2025 that FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE is not a PS5 Pro Enhanced title. The company said it had removed earlier wording implying Pro optimization from the game’s site on 18 September 2025. It separately confirmed the game runs on PS5 Pro, so compatibility should not be confused with an official enhanced designation. Square Enix’s clarification applies specifically to Remake Intergrade; it does not alter Rebirth’s Enhanced Mode status.
