FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE is a compelling way to play the Midgar chapter on Nintendo Switch 2, especially if you want to take a long, cinematic RPG with you. The trade-off is technical: independent reviews report weaker image quality in demanding scenes and a lower frame-rate ceiling than the PS5 Performance mode. It is the expanded Midgar installment—not the entire remake project—and it includes the Yuffie-led FF7R EPISODE INTERmission.
What is included, and how much of Final Fantasy VII is it?
FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE is the expanded edition of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE. The game reimagines and expands the original 1997 game’s Midgar section; it does not cover the full story of the original or the entire multi-part remake project. The package also includes FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, a separate Yuffie-led story set in Midgar during the events of the main game. The Switch 2 listing names the Cacstar weapon, armor pieces, accessories, and Carbuncle, Chocobo Chick, and Cactuar summon materia among its bonus items. How does the Switch 2 port perform?
The main appeal is the option to play a substantial, cinematic RPG in handheld mode as well as docked. TechRadar found the port looked good but did not match the PlayStation edition’s visual quality, and highlighted portability as a meaningful advantage for a long game. TechRadar’s review

Is it a good way to play the game?
Choose Switch 2 if portability matters
If you value handheld play, the Switch 2 version combines the Midgar story with the Yuffie episode in a single portable package. Creative Bloq describes it as developed and optimized for Switch 2 and playable both docked and handheld. Creative Bloq’s review

Consider another platform if image quality or frame rate comes first
If you do not expect to play handheld and prioritize visual quality or a higher frame-rate option, the PS5 version may suit you better. Yes. The optional Streamlined Progression feature is designed to let players focus more on the story and the game’s hybrid combat. Square Enix lists unlimited HP and MP, unlimited limit and ATB gauges during battles, 9,999 damage, and easier weapon ability acquisition among its effects. It changes combat substantially, but it should not be taken as a fix for every accessibility need. Square Enix says the feature is also available through a patch on PS5 and PC. Check the current listing for the exact edition and any physical bonuses. Square Enix’s standard physical-edition page lists the game, INTERmission, a reversible cover, bonus equipment and summons, and a Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY Play Booster containing 15 random English cards while stocks last.
