At a New York City Comic Con panel, the Final Fantasy VII Revelation cast described the fellow performers who made their scenes click—from Paul Tinto’s Cait Sith accent, which Max Mittelman kept asking to hear, to the grounded emotional work Britt Baron admired in Cody Christian’s Cloud. Their answers point to different kinds of on-screen chemistry, even though game actors often record apart.
Why co-star chemistry can be hard to find in a game booth
Voice actors in games may record alone, sometimes performing against lines played back from another actor rather than sharing a scene in person. The cast described different experiences: Britt Baron said she usually did not hear fellow performers before release, while J. Michael Tatum often recorded late enough to hear other performances first. These are individual accounts, not a universal recording schedule.
That distance did not stop the actors from identifying specific qualities they responded to: comic vocal choices, contrasting energy, emotional intensity, and subtle character work.

Max Mittelman kept asking for Cait Sith’s lines
Mittelman said he repeatedly asked for Tinto’s Cait Sith lines to be played before his own takes because he enjoyed the accent. He estimated that he made the request about 20 times—an informal recollection, not a production count.

Mercer and Yeung enjoyed Vincent-and-Yuffie contrast
Mercer said he responded to Yeung’s energy by playing a more stabilizing presence. Yeung recalled telling him she loved their scenes and expected them to be great. The appeal, as they described it, was not simply matching each other’s energy but creating a useful contrast.
Baron and Christian praised each other’s Cloud-and-Tifa work
Baron recalled hearing Christian’s Cloud during a pickup session and being struck by how grounded and honest the performance felt. She said, “You’re getting an Oscar-worthy performance,” and described being “knocked back” by how real and honest he sounded. Christian, in turn, praised the nuance and subtlety Baron brought to Cloud and Tifa’s scenes.

Christian found emotional fuel in Willingham’s Sephiroth
Christian said hearing Willingham’s Sephiroth helped him find strong, truthful emotions for Cloud. Willingham also praised Mittelman’s Red XIII, recalling his son’s reaction to the voice change while they played earlier games together.
White and Pierce described grounding and balance
White praised Baron’s Tifa for holding softness and strength together: “the way that she is so soft and strong, both at 100, instead of warring with each other, it’s just so beautiful.” Pierce said White’s recorded Aerith lines could calm and ground him when he entered the booth with high energy.

John Eric Bentley on Barret’s role among the cast
Bentley spoke about Barret as a point person in scenes and teased material involving Cid, Cait Sith, Vincent, and the women in the cast, while avoiding details he felt could spoil the game.
J. Michael Tatum on hearing other performances first
Tatum said he often recorded late and heard other actors’ performances before his own, which helped him find Cid through the way other characters responded. Mercer also described being a longtime Final Fantasy VII fan and praising cast members’ earlier performances before becoming more involved in the remake series.
