Raditz is a serious threat to the early Dragon Ball Z heroes, but canon cannot prove how he fares against characters from other anime. The official story shows him overpowering Goku and Piccolo together; any cross-series verdict depends on which versions and abilities you compare. Here are eight deliberately bounded matchups—not official rankings—and why Raditz would have the advantage in each.
How these matchups are judged
Each comparison uses Raditz as he appears in the Saiyan arc, before his death: a powerful fighter who can shrug off Piccolo’s Explosive Wave and evade his first Special Beam Cannon. The official Dragon Ball character feature recounts that Raditz overwhelmed Goku and Piccolo when they fought together. Piccolo’s official Saiyan-arc profile independently describes their struggle and Raditz dodging the first Special Beam Cannon.
For the eight comparisons below, “does not stand a chance” means the named version is unlikely to win a direct fight with no outside help or advance preparation. Transformations and powers that version normally has are allowed. This is an editorial assessment of shown abilities, not a canon crossover result. Different series use different rules and power systems; no numerical conversion between them is established here.
Eight heroes Raditz would likely beat
1. Tanjiro Kamado — early Demon Slayer
Version: Tanjiro during his early demon-slaying missions, using his swordsmanship and breathing techniques, without later-series developments.

Tanjiro is a highly capable swordsman within his story, but this matchup asks whether those skills let him survive and land a decisive blow on Raditz. The Saiyan-arc account establishes that Raditz catches and returns a bullet, takes Piccolo’s Explosive Wave without injury, and can keep fighting two opponents at once. Those feats suggest a severe gap in durability and combat pressure. Tanjiro’s blade is dangerous to the demons he faces; the available evidence does not establish that it could cut Raditz.
2. Izuku Midoriya — early My Hero Academia
Version: Midoriya near the start of his hero career, with access to One For All but before later mastery and power developments.
Early Midoriya can deliver extraordinary force, but controlling it is a major limitation. Raditz’s speed and resilience make it difficult for this version of Midoriya to land a clean hit without hurting himself. Raditz also has the demonstrated advantage of overwhelming opponents who can coordinate against him. This is not a claim that every later Midoriya version loses; it is a comparison with the early, less controlled version specified here.

The sword’s special property therefore does not, by itself, supply a counter to Raditz’s physical toughness or speed. Early Asta could still threaten him with a solid strike, yet the Saiyan’s shown ability to withstand attacks and dominate a paired fight makes Raditz the more likely winner. Later transformations and developments are outside this matchup.
4. Yuji Itadori — early Jujutsu Kaisen
Version: Yuji near the start of the series, with his exceptional physical abilities but without later developments.

Yuji is an effective close-range fighter, but closing the distance is itself a problem against an opponent who can evade a named, concentrated attack from Piccolo and handle Goku and Piccolo together. Yuji’s ability to fight curses does not establish a special advantage against a Saiyan. Without a demonstrated way to overcome Raditz’s durability, a hand-to-hand exchange favors Raditz.
5. Eren Yeager — human form, early Attack on Titan
Version: Eren as a human soldier, not in Titan form, with standard military equipment.
In this version, Eren has no demonstrated weapon that can reliably injure Raditz. His training and resolve matter in battles against human enemies and Titans, but Raditz operates on a different scale of physical threat: even Piccolo’s attack failed to hurt him, and Raditz could return a bullet. Eren’s human form is therefore unlikely to survive a direct confrontation long enough to create a winning opening.

6. Natsu Dragneel — early Fairy Tail
Version: Natsu from the early part of the series, using his usual fire-based Dragon Slayer abilities but without later power-ups.
Natsu’s fire and close-range attacks make him more of a threat than a purely unarmed human, but the comparison does not establish that fire can bypass Raditz’s durability. Raditz is shown shrugging off Piccolo’s Explosive Wave and evading the first Special Beam Cannon, so a straightforward attack is not enough to assume Natsu can put him down. With no preparation or outside support, Raditz’s demonstrated combat advantage gives him the edge. The result could differ for a later Natsu, but that would be a different matchup.
7. Naruto Uzumaki — early Naruto, before the later power-ups
Version: Naruto during his early missions, using shadow clones and the skills available to him then.

Early Naruto’s clones can complicate a fight, but numbers alone do not guarantee a win against an opponent who overwhelmed Goku and Piccolo working together. Raditz’s ability to detect and react to threats is not comprehensively measured by the cited story account, so this is not a claim that he counters every clone tactic. Rather, the early version of Naruto has no established finishing attack in this comparison that is likely to overcome Raditz’s shown resilience before Raditz can strike back.
8. Gon Freecss — early Hunter × Hunter
Version: Gon during the Hunter Exam and early adventure, before later Nen developments.
Early Gon is brave, athletic, and resourceful, but he has not yet developed the later combat toolkit that would define his strongest confrontations. Against Raditz, a direct exchange is especially unfavorable: Raditz survived Piccolo’s attack without injury and took on two seasoned fighters at once. Gon’s instincts might help him avoid an immediate hit, but the evidence does not support a credible route for this version to defeat Raditz in a straight fight.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What Raditz’s canon fight does—and does not—show
Raditz’s victory over the early heroes should not be mistaken for proof that he is near the top of every fictional universe. The same official feature that presents him as a major Earth threat notes that Nappa calls him a “weakling” and characterizes him as among the weaker Saiyan fighters. Both descriptions can be true: he is formidable relative to the heroes at that point in Dragon Ball, yet low in standing among Saiyans.
Gohan’s headbutt illustrates why one dramatic moment is not a reliable power scale. The official Saiyan-arc Gohan feature reports a fictional power level of 1,307 for his latent-potential attack against Raditz. It later gives 2,800 for Gohan’s anger-fueled rise while fighting Nappa. Those are figures for distinct story moments, not stable measurements of Gohan’s controlled ability—and they do not translate into a shared scale for heroes from other anime.
Raditz was ultimately defeated through a specific opening, not because Goku and Piccolo simply overpowered him: Gohan rammed him in anger, Goku restrained him, and Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon killed both brothers. That sequence supports calling Raditz a dangerous early-series opponent, while leaving cross-franchise outcomes to version-specific interpretation.
