What should you watch before Walpurgisnacht: Rising?
The official film site presents Walpurgisnacht: Rising as a sequel to Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion. The announced catch-up titles are the preceding films Beginnings, Eternal, and Rebellion.
Streaming availability
The October 8 announcement says the earlier films are planned to debut on Crunchyroll on November 8 and Netflix on January 2. The announcement excerpt does not specify a year for the January 2 date, and streaming catalogs can change; check each service for current availability in your region.
Physical collection
The announcement also says preorders are available for a box set of the predecessor movie trilogy. It is a way to revisit Beginnings, Eternal, and Rebellion; the announcement does not say that Walpurgisnacht: Rising is included or provide exact edition details.
What is known about the new film?
The official site describes it as a legitimate sequel to Rebellion and an onward step in the story. Its introductory branding associates the project with Akiyuki Shimbo, Gen Urobuchi, Ume Aoki, and SHAFT. That branding is not a complete credit roll, so it should not be treated as a precise list of job titles.
