Moogle Treasure Trove (MTT) is an unscheduled event where players earn event-specific tomestones and exchange them for a rotating lineup. Seasonal events have their own announced quests, activities, rewards, and closing times. For the active First Hunt for Astronomy, the event ends October 19, 2026, at 7:59 a.m. PDT, but Mogpendium claims and tomestone exchanges have separate, later cutoffs.
What is the practical difference?
Choose between these events based on what you want to earn and what you can complete before its particular deadline. MTT asks you to accumulate event currency through eligible duties and objectives, then spend it with itinerant moogles. A seasonal event asks you to complete that event’s announced quest or activities for its listed rewards. Its requirements and any option to replay completed quests later depend on the event notice.

Neither format has a universal reward list or a single rule for what happens after an event closes. For MTT, keep three milestones distinct: the event’s earning period, any deadline to claim rewards from the Mogpendium, and the final date or patch cutoff for spending tomestones. For a seasonal event, follow the event-specific closing time and check whether its notice explicitly allows replay.

This distinction matters when you are deciding what to do with a short play session. A player who wants one cosmetic from a seasonal quest may need to start that quest chain before the event closes, while a player pursuing an MTT mount may need several duty runs plus separate challenge objectives. Conversely, someone who has already earned enough MTT currency can often focus on claiming and exchanging it rather than continuing to farm. The correct priority depends on the exact notice, not on the broad label attached to the event.

How the formats compare
| Decision | Moogle Treasure Trove | Seasonal event |
|---|---|---|
| Schedule | Unscheduled; Square Enix says it has no set schedule. The current instance has its own dates. | Dates are announced in the event’s Lodestone notice. Check the notice for the event you intend to do. |
| How rewards are earned | Earn irregular tomestones from eligible, event-marked duties and other listed activities. Some special editions add objectives that award extra tokens. | Complete the quest or activities specified for that event. Requirements vary. |
| What rewards look like | Spend tomestones on the edition’s rotating item lineup; a special reward may require an additional event token. | Event-specific rewards. The 2026 FFXV collaboration listed a mount, costume set, hairstyle, orchestrion rolls, and more. |
| Deadlines to check | Event end, Mogpendium claim cutoff, and itinerant-moogle exchange cutoff can differ. | Use that event’s stated closing time. Replay after closing is not a general guarantee. |
| Useful planning question | Can you earn enough currency and claim any objective rewards before their respective cutoffs? | Can you finish the event’s required quest or activity before it closes, and does the notice confirm replay? |
The table is a planning shortcut, not a promise that every edition behaves identically. MTT’s currency name, token requirements, featured item and objective values can change from one hunt to another. Seasonal events can be collaborations, holiday quests or other limited activities, each with its own instructions. Always read the current Lodestone announcement before treating an old event as a template.
Current Moogle Treasure Trove dates and cutoffs
As of October 13, 2026, the active event is First Hunt for Astronomy. Square Enix’s North American Lodestone notice lists the earning period as September 9, 2026, at 1:00 a.m. through October 19, 2026, at 7:59 a.m. PDT. The notice warns that dates and times may change and that the event may be suspended without warning, so check the current official announcement if your plans depend on the final hours.
The October 19 event end is not the last date relevant to every reward. The official notice lists two later patch-based milestones:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Weekly and challenge rewards: claim them in the Mogpendium; claiming ends with Patch 8.05.
- Tomestone exchange: spend eligible tomestones with itinerant moogles through Patch 8.1.
The notice identifies these deadlines by patch rather than by a calendar date. Do not assume that a tomestone exchange remains available merely because you still possess tomestones, or that completing an objective automatically adds every reward to your inventory. If you finish a challenge close to the event end, open the Mogpendium and claim the reward instead of waiting for an automatic delivery.
These dates are North American notice times and are labeled PDT. Do not silently substitute GMT, UTC or another region’s display time when making a personal reminder. If the notice is updated, use the updated time and treat the older date as obsolete. The suspension warning is another reason not to schedule all of your runs for the final morning.
How to earn and claim MTT rewards
Get the Mogpendium and review the objectives
Speak to an itinerant moogle to obtain the Mogpendium. It displays the event objectives, including repeatable Standard Objectives, Weekly Objectives, weekly Minimog Challenges, and one-time-per-event Ultimog Challenges. Use the Mogpendium to check the current requirements and keep track of objective rewards that must be claimed manually.
The categories imply different planning rhythms. Standard Objectives can be repeated, so they form the ordinary tomestone-farming loop. Weekly Objectives and Minimog Challenges are limited by their weekly structure, while an Ultimog Challenge is available once per event. Read the reset and completion text in the Mogpendium rather than assuming that all four categories refresh in the same way. The objective screen is also the safest place to verify whether you have completed a requirement before leaving the duty.

Earn irregular tomestones through eligible activities
Complete duties marked for the event to earn its irregular tomestones. Square Enix also lists GATEs and ocean fishing routes as earning routes. Ocean fishing has a specific threshold: a run must reach at least 2,000 points to award a tomestone.
That threshold changes how you should evaluate an ocean-fishing run. Merely entering the route is not enough; check that the result reaches 2,000 points. Likewise, an activity that resembles an event duty is not automatically eligible. Look for the event marking and the reward indication in the current Mogpendium or Lodestone notice before investing time.
Two common assumptions can lead to wasted effort. Duties completed with Duty Support or adventurer squadrons do not award these event tomestones. An unrestricted party must apply Level Sync for an eligible duty to count. Check the event marking and party conditions before committing to a run.
Level Sync is therefore a practical requirement for an unrestricted group, not an optional setting to ignore when trying to finish quickly. A party that clears an otherwise named duty without the required sync may receive the normal duty rewards but not the event tomestone. Duty Support and squadron runs are similarly unsuitable for this currency, even if they are convenient for practicing the duty.

Standard Objective rewards enter inventory automatically. Weekly and challenge rewards require a separate claim from the Mogpendium. In the First Hunt for Astronomy, completing one of the two weekly Minimog objectives awards one Uolon Horn Token, while completing the Ultimog Challenge awards five. These are additional to the tomestone-earning system, not a substitute for it.
For the featured mount, this distinction is important: running eligible duties supplies the astronomy tomestones, but the token portion comes from the named objectives. A player can therefore have enough tomestones and still be short of the mount if the weekly or Ultimog rewards were never claimed. Review the Mogpendium after each completed challenge and again before the claim cutoff.
What the current special MTT reward requires
The featured Uolon Horn mount costs 100 Irregular Tomestones of Astronomy I plus 10 Uolon Horn Tokens. This makes its planning different from an item purchased with tomestones alone: you need both currencies, and the horn tokens come from the event’s specified objectives rather than from simply accumulating eligible-duty tomestones.

The cost should be treated as an exact requirement for this installment, not as a standard MTT price. Another hunt can use a different tomestone type, token name or amount. Before farming, confirm the item’s listing in the current itinerant-moogle exchange menu and note whether the item has a second-currency condition.

This carryover applies to the named horn and token, not necessarily to every First Hunt item. The two installments will have different item lineups and exchange tomestones, so inspect the later notice rather than assuming the entire shop or all currencies carry forward.
That carryover can reduce pressure for a player who cannot finish the horn during the First Hunt, but it does not remove the need to read the Second Hunt notice. It is an explicit exception for the horn and its tokens, not evidence that every reward, currency or unclaimed objective will remain available indefinitely. Keep the token in the form specified by Square Enix and verify the later exchange menu when that installment begins.
Seasonal events: use the notice for the event in question
“Seasonal event” describes a format, not one fixed quest structure. The Lodestone announcement for each event is the authority for its dates, tasks, reward list, and any replay option. Do not assume a seasonal event occurs on the same dates each year, that every item will return, or that a closed quest can be replayed later.
A seasonal event may therefore be the better choice for a player who wants a specific story reward rather than a currency shop. The practical task is to identify the quest start, any prerequisite shown in the notice, the activity that awards the item and the exact closing time. If the notice says previously completed quests can be replayed, record that as a special feature of that event. If it does not, do not infer a replay path from another collaboration.
Recent example: A Nocturne for Heroes
The 2026 FFXV collaboration, A Nocturne for Heroes, ran from September 24 at 1:00 a.m. through October 13 at 7:59 a.m. PDT. Its official announcement listed the Regalia Type-G four-seater mount, Lucian Prince costume set, Modern Aesthetics – Lucian Locks, orchestrion rolls, and additional rewards. Players who had previously completed the event quests could replay them through the seasonal event replay feature. That replay rule is confirmed for this collaboration; it should not be generalized to other seasonal events.
This example also illustrates why a seasonal reward list cannot be substituted for an MTT shop list. The Regalia Type-G, Lucian Prince set and Lucian Locks were named rewards in the FFXV notice; they were not presented as items bought with First Hunt for Astronomy tomestones. A player deciding between the two formats should compare the actual desired item, not simply count whether one event has a mount.

What is known about the next listed event
On October 13, 2026, the Lodestone news listing showed “All Saints’ Wake Begins October 15.” The linked details page was unavailable during maintenance, so its full end date and reward list are not confirmed here. Treat the headline as confirmation of a listed start, not as a basis for guessing the event duration, quest requirements, or rewards. Check the event’s official details once available.
That limitation is operationally important. A headline can tell you when to look for the event, but it does not tell you how long the quest remains open, whether an item is obtained once or through repeatable activities, or whether a replay feature exists. Wait for the full notice before promising yourself a particular reward or planning a last-day completion.
Which event should you prioritize before it closes?
Use the kind of reward and the soonest relevant deadline to make the decision. An expiring seasonal quest may be the priority if its notice says the reward is available only during that event. MTT may offer more flexibility for a particular item when its notice confirms a later exchange window or a carryover, as the Uolon Horn does for the Second Hunt. That flexibility is specific to the item and event; it does not make every MTT reward permanent.
Players with limited time should also separate earning from administrative steps. Earning currency is only one part of MTT progress. A weekly or challenge reward can remain unclaimed in the Mogpendium even after the underlying objective is complete, and a tomestone balance is useful only while the itinerant-moogle exchange remains open. Seasonal progress likewise is not complete merely because you have read the event announcement; finish the required quest or activity and confirm the reward has been awarded.
- Identify the reward you actually want. Check the current seasonal-event notice or the MTT item lineup rather than relying on a past event’s reward categories.
- Write down every applicable deadline. For MTT, note the event end, Mogpendium claim cutoff, and exchange cutoff separately. For a seasonal event, note the announced close and any explicit replay information.
- Check the earning requirement. MTT may require eligible duties, a minimum ocean-fishing score, or a particular objective for a second token currency. Seasonal quest requirements are event-specific.
- Check party and activity restrictions. For MTT, avoid Duty Support and adventurer squadrons, and use Level Sync in an unrestricted party when the duty requires it. For ocean fishing, target at least 2,000 points.
- Complete and claim in time. If the MTT reward is tied to a weekly or challenge objective, claim it in the Mogpendium before Patch 8.05. Then spend tomestones by the Patch 8.1 exchange cutoff if you are buying from the current lineup.
- Recheck official notices near the deadline. Dates can change, and the First Hunt notice warns that the event may be suspended without warning.
Common deadline and reward mistakes
- Treating the event end as every MTT cutoff: earning ends October 19, 2026, at 7:59 a.m. PDT, but claims and exchanges have separate patch cutoffs.
- Forgetting to claim objective rewards: Standard Objective rewards are automatic; weekly and challenge rewards need a Mogpendium claim.
- Assuming any duty setup qualifies: Duty Support and adventurer squadrons do not award the event tomestones, and unrestricted parties need Level Sync.
- Assuming a special MTT mount costs only tomestones: the Uolon Horn also requires 10 Uolon Horn Tokens.
- Confusing token sources: the First Hunt’s one-token weekly Minimog reward and five-token Ultimog reward come from their named objectives, not from ordinary tomestone runs.
- Expecting every seasonal reward to return or every quest to replay: only use replay or carryover rules explicitly stated in the relevant notice.
- Using an incomplete event headline as a full schedule: the listed All Saints’ Wake start does not establish its end date or rewards.
- Converting time zones without checking the notice: the cited North American dates are labeled PDT. Use that label when setting reminders and verify any regional announcement separately.
- Waiting for the final hours: Square Enix warns that dates and times may change and that MTT can be suspended without warning. Finish earning, claiming and exchanging with a buffer whenever possible.
A simple checklist for either format
Before starting, write down the item or story reward you want and the official event name. For MTT, obtain the Mogpendium from an itinerant moogle, identify the relevant Standard, Weekly, Minimog or Ultimog objective, and verify which activities award the current irregular tomestone. If a mount has a second currency, record that requirement separately. After completing weekly or challenge objectives, open the Mogpendium and claim them manually.
For a seasonal event, open the full Lodestone notice rather than relying on a news headline. Record the start and end time with its time zone, the quest or activity required, the reward list and any sentence about replaying completed quests. Finish the event before the closing time and do not assume a future rerun unless Square Enix says one is planned.
Finally, check the official page again near the deadline. This is especially important for the First Hunt for Astronomy because the notice gives an October 19, 2026, 7:59 a.m. PDT event end, a Patch 8.05 claim cutoff and a Patch 8.1 exchange cutoff, while also warning that the schedule can change.

The official notice lists exchange with itinerant moogles through Patch 8.1. Check the current patch information rather than assuming possession of tomestones guarantees an open exchange window.
What activities award Moogle Treasure Trove tomestones?
Event-marked duties, GATEs and ocean-fishing routes are listed earning routes. Ocean fishing requires at least 2,000 points for a tomestone. Duty Support and adventurer squadrons do not award the event tomestones, and unrestricted parties must apply Level Sync.
How do I get Uolon Horn Tokens?
In First Hunt for Astronomy, one of the two weekly Minimog objectives awards one Uolon Horn Token, and the Ultimog Challenge awards five. These objective rewards must be claimed in the Mogpendium.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Moogle Treasure Trove is a currency-and-objective event with no fixed annual schedule, while seasonal events follow their own quest notices and reward lists. For First Hunt for Astronomy, track October 19, 2026, at 7:59 a.m. PDT, the Patch 8.05 Mogpendium claim cutoff and the Patch 8.1 exchange cutoff separately. Compare the exact reward you want, meet its earning requirements and verify replay or carryover only when the official notice explicitly confirms it.
