It is a single-player escape sandbox about finding a way out of a surreal town while a giant policeman watches and responds to your choices. The official Steam listing gives minimum PC specifications and advertises full controller support, but marks Steam Deck compatibility as unknown. Most importantly, the official information reviewed does not confirm whether the demo saves progress between sessions or whether a demo save transfers to the full game.
Where can you play the Militsioner demo?
The demo is listed on Steam as a free, single-player game demo. Its listed release date is October 8, 2026; the Steam listing names tallboys as the developer and CRITICAL REFLEX as the publisher. These details describe the demo’s current listed availability, not a promise that it will remain available indefinitely.

The confirmed demo storefront in the available official information is Steam. An announced console release for the full game does not mean that a console demo is available: the official announcement describes the full game as planned for Steam and Xbox Series X|S via Game Pass in 2027, but does not announce an Xbox demo.

What kind of game is it?
Militsioner is presented as an escape-focused immersive sim. You wake in a strange town after being arrested, and need to find a route out while the Colossal Policeman keeps watch. Rather than describing one fixed escape sequence, the Steam listing emphasizes trying different plans and seeing how the town and its inhabitants react.

Routes, actions, and social choices
The store description presents a range of possible approaches: scouting, sneaking, stealing, selling, trading, breaking in, talking to characters, and trying to influence the Policeman. The point is not simply to pick a door and leave; the advertised premise is that the way you behave can change how people respond and which opportunities are available. Characters are described as having moods and schedules, so timing and social interactions are part of the escape problem.
The listing gives a consequence-focused example: a failed attempt to escape by train can harm the driver, while a different approach can avoid that outcome. It also says the Policeman remembers earlier attempts and changes his behavior. That suggests replaying with a revised plan is part of the intended experience, but it should be understood as the game’s official description rather than an independent assessment of how every system works in the demo.
What the description does—and does not—promise
The official copy establishes the broad premise and the kinds of systems players can expect: multiple approaches, reactive characters, consequences, and a persistent pursuer. It does not provide a complete inventory of demo missions, locations, items, endings, or mechanics. Do not assume that every feature described for Militsioner as a whole is present in the demo in its final form.

Can your PC run the demo?
The Steam listing gives the following minimum Windows PC requirements. Minimum specifications are a compatibility baseline supplied by the publisher; they are not a promise of a particular frame rate, resolution, or graphical setting.
| Requirement | Minimum listed specification |
|---|---|
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10 |
| Processor | Intel i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti or AMD RX 570 (4 GB) |
| DirectX | Version 10 |
| Storage | 20 GB available space |
There is an important distinction for older Windows computers: the game listing includes Windows 7 and 8 in its minimum OS line, while Steam separately says that its client requires Windows 10 or later as of January 1, 2024. Those are separate requirements. The game’s listed OS line does not mean that a currently supported Steam client can be installed on Windows 7 or 8.
Before you download
- Check your Windows edition and system type. The listing calls for 64-bit Windows. A 32-bit installation does not meet that stated minimum.
- Compare your processor, RAM, and graphics card. Check the actual CPU and GPU models rather than relying only on a device’s age or marketing name. The listed graphics options include 4 GB of video memory.
- Make room for the install. The listed requirement is 20 GB of available storage. Leave additional free space if your PC needs it for updates or other system tasks; the listing does not specify a larger required amount.
- Confirm the Steam client can run on your operating system. In particular, the game’s Windows 7/8 minimum entry should not be read as current Steam-client support for those systems.
If your system is below one or more listed minimums, the official listing does not establish whether the demo will launch or how well it might perform. Likewise, meeting minimums is not a guarantee of smooth performance in every scene.

Can you play on Steam Deck?
Steam currently marks Militsioner Demo’s Steam Deck compatibility as unknown. That is not the same as Verified, Playable, or an assurance that the game runs well on Deck. The official information available here does not establish performance, control readability, launcher behavior, or whether any manual configuration is needed.

If you want to try it on Deck, treat the result as unconfirmed rather than relying on a compatibility promise. The Steam listing’s full-controller-support label is useful context for input, but it does not by itself establish Steam Deck compatibility: controller support and the Deck’s overall compatibility rating answer different questions.
Does the demo support controllers and other languages?
The Steam listing advertises full controller support and specifically names Xbox controllers. A controller is optional; the listing does not state that keyboard-and-mouse play is unavailable or that a particular controller model is required.

The listing names 15 interface and subtitle languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Latin America), Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Ukrainian. Its language table does not list full audio support for those languages. In other words, the documented language coverage is for interface and subtitles; do not infer that all spoken dialogue is recorded in each language.

That is unconfirmed. The official Steam demo page and official announcement material reviewed do not say whether the demo has autosaves, manual save slots, or any other save system. They also do not say whether progress remains after closing and reopening the demo.
The description that the Policeman remembers previous attempts is about the advertised gameplay. It does not establish that a save file persists across separate sessions, survives uninstalling the demo, or is stored in a way that can be transferred to the full release. Those are different questions, and the available official details do not answer them.

Can you continue a demo save in the full game?
No official information reviewed confirms demo-to-full-game save transfer. Until the developer or publisher states otherwise, do not plan on carrying demo progress into the 2027 release. If continuing a particular run matters to you, avoid uninstalling the demo on the assumption that your progress is backed up or transferable; persistence itself is not documented.
Is there an Xbox demo, and when is the full game planned?
The demo’s confirmed listing is on Steam. In an official announcement dated August 27, 2026, tallboys and CRITICAL REFLEX said that the full game was planned for 2027 on Steam and Xbox Series X|S via Game Pass. The announcement also referred to a public Steam demo as a development milestone. It does not say that the demo is available on Xbox, so the announced Xbox platform applies to the planned full game, not to confirmed demo access.
That announcement describes a plan, not a guarantee of final release timing or availability in every region. Check the current official store listing or announcement if you are making a platform decision after the announced window.

A July 2026 official progress update described the full game as split into three acts, with each act opening a new part of town and its own escape methods. The update also said that each attempt has a new, nameless criminal. These are details about the planned full game; they should not be treated as a complete feature list for the demo, which may cover only part of that design.
For a player deciding whether to try the demo, the practical distinction is simple: the demo is presently listed for Steam, while the 2027 full-game platforms announced are Steam and Xbox Series X|S via Game Pass. The available official details do not establish how much of the planned three-act structure the demo contains, whether its save data will carry forward, or whether there will be an Xbox demo.
Quick Recap
Quick decision guide
- Try it now: If you have a supported Steam setup and want to sample the escape-sandbox premise, the Steam listing marks the demo free.
- Check your PC first: Compare your hardware against the published minimums, and account for Steam’s separate Windows 10-or-later client requirement.
- Do not assume Deck support: Its compatibility status is unknown, even though the listing advertises full controller support.
- Do not count on save carryover: Save behavior and transfer to the full game have not been confirmed in the official material reviewed.
- Do not expect an Xbox demo based on the full-game announcement: Xbox Series X|S is announced for the planned full game, but an Xbox demo is not stated.
