Final Fantasy XVI launched on PC on September 18, 2024, on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Square Enix separately said downloads could begin around 23:00 Japan time on September 17, so the earlier date refers to the local download start—not a stated worldwide release time. Square Enix’s PC announcement gives the release date; its download notice gives the Japan-time detail.
When did Final Fantasy XVI release on PC?
Square Enix announced September 18, 2024, as the PC release date. Its September 4 notice said downloads through Steam and the Epic Games Store could begin at approximately 23:00 Japan time on September 17, 2024, with play available once the download finished. The notice does not establish a global simultaneous release time, which is why the Japan-time download date differs from the announced release date.

Where can you play it on PC?
The PC version is available through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Store availability and prices may differ by region and change over time, so check your local storefront for current listings. Square Enix’s official product page lists platforms and edition contents.
What do the PC editions include?
The standard edition contains the base game. The complete edition bundles the base game with both expansions, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide. In its August 20, 2024 announcement, Square Enix listed suggested Japanese prices of ¥7,700 for the standard edition and ¥9,900 for the complete edition. Those are historical Japan-specific figures, not current prices for every market.

Can the demo save carry over to the full game?
Yes. Square Enix released a PC demo for Steam and the Epic Games Store on August 20, 2024. It covers the opening story section, including Clive’s youth, which the publisher estimates takes about two to two and a half hours. Save data from that opening section can transfer to the full game.
Summon Action Trial
After completing the opening section, players can access a separate Summon Action Trial. Its data does not transfer, and the trial does not support save or load.
